We have just returned from a two week stay at Mango Bay, our first visit to Barbados. What a fantastic place!!! The hotel is really well situated, with lots of little bars and restaurants just outside the hotel and a good selection of local and designer shops just a short walk down the road. Its seems a really safe area and we walked out at night and felt comfortable.
The hotel itself is excellent - spacious bedroom and bathroom (a little dated but extremely clean and well appointed with everything you would need), lovely pool with plenty of sunbeds and super open plan bar and restaurant with fantastic views over the beach. Sitting looking out to the beach and sea at mealtimes was brilliant! The food was excellent, a good selection of food, always very well presented and not at all repetitive. We found it a positive that when you went into breakfast you booked a time for lunch and dinner that day as it meant that there was usually a table ready and waiting for you. The bar was always well stocked whilst we were there and we never noticed a shortage of anything - the wine was particularly good and not cheap quality as some people have stated - cocktails excellent!!! The staff are all very polite and chatty and attentive - the maids take time cleaning the rooms and everything was spotlessly clean and fresh. Shireen the manager is excellent, constantly stopping to talk to guests and asking if they are enjoying their stay. She does a "get together talk" on the terrace every wednesday evening to let you know whats going on in the area and greets new and repeat guests like friends. If there was a problem, I am confident that she would do her best to resolve it for you. Finally, I have read reviews where people complain about the Karaoke at the One Love Bar on a Sunday night.......what an experience!!!! For 6 nights of the week there is probably 2 or 3 people sat in this little bar but on a Sunday night its like a huge street party!!! Yes its loud, but what a fantastic atmosphere!!!! We have stayed in much higher quality hotels than the Mango Bay, but this was one of the best holidays we have had, relaxed, friendly people and a fantastic island, and we cannot wait to return!!!
