“Fantastic Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

We have just returned from a two week stay at Mango Bay, our first visit to Barbados. What a fantastic place!!! The hotel is really well situated, with lots of little bars and restaurants just outside the hotel and a good selection of local and designer shops just a short walk down the road. Its seems a really safe area and we walked out at night and felt comfortable.
The hotel itself is excellent - spacious bedroom and bathroom (a little dated but extremely clean and well appointed with everything you would need), lovely pool with plenty of sunbeds and super open plan bar and restaurant with fantastic views over the beach. Sitting looking out to the beach and sea at mealtimes was brilliant! The food was excellent, a good selection of food, always very well presented and not at all repetitive. We found it a positive that when you went into breakfast you booked a time for lunch and dinner that day as it meant that there was usually a table ready and waiting for you. The bar was always well stocked whilst we were there and we never noticed a shortage of anything - the wine was particularly good and not cheap quality as some people have stated - cocktails excellent!!! The staff are all very polite and chatty and attentive - the maids take time cleaning the rooms and everything was spotlessly clean and fresh. Shireen the manager is excellent, constantly stopping to talk to guests and asking if they are enjoying their stay. She does a "get together talk" on the terrace every wednesday evening to let you know whats going on in the area and greets new and repeat guests like friends. If there was a problem, I am confident that she would do her best to resolve it for you. Finally, I have read reviews where people complain about the Karaoke at the One Love Bar on a Sunday night.......what an experience!!!! For 6 nights of the week there is probably 2 or 3 people sat in this little bar but on a Sunday night its like a huge street party!!! Yes its loud, but what a fantastic atmosphere!!!! We have stayed in much higher quality hotels than the Mango Bay, but this was one of the best holidays we have had, relaxed, friendly people and a fantastic island, and we cannot wait to return!!!

Room Tip: We booked a superior room which was excellent, spacious and very quiet.

Mango Bay is well situated in Holetown which is a vibrant area to explore. We had a sea-front room which was spaciousand comfortable with a balcony with lovely sea views.
The hotel is right on the beach, and altough the beach itself is quite narrow in front of the hotel it is easy to walk a long way along the beach front.
Food and drink are not the hotels best attributes, The food is unexciting and quite mundane. The wine is poor and the bar is understocked, despite which it is often overcrowded. There is a strange system here which requires you to book times for lunch and dinner in advance - so much for Barbados' laid-back image.
The staff are pleasant and the service is quite good.
Overall I would class this as a decent three-star holiday hotel.

Room Tip: Do not get a room at the back of the hotel as we were told the night-time noise was extreme

We have just returned from a 10 day family holiday at the Mango Bay Hotel. Everything was perfect. We had 3 super ground floor rooms facing the ocean so we were just a few steps from the beach and boardwalk. The younger members of our party thoroughly enjoyed the water sports which were available to guests and their water skiing improved greatly over the 10 days we were there. The food was excellent and, on the non buffet nights, was beautifully presented at the table. For those fussy eaters, the staff were always willing to provide an alternative if at all possible. We asked for breadfruit and 2 days later, it was on the menu! We particularly enjoyed the long walk along the beach to Sandy Lane Hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Small things that were appreciated were the lovely sorbets served to everyone onthe beach and boardwalk late mornings and the turn down service in the evenings. Many thanks to the office staff for their help in downloading our boarding passes! Yes - the beach is small but it did not bother us - there are plenty of sun beds around the pool or on the boardwalk as well. The entertainment in the evening was excellent. We will always have happy memories of our stay at Mango Bay.

Room Tip: We had ocean view rooms on the ground floor 111,112 and 113 which were very convenient for beach and...

This hotel is smaller than we have experienced before, but for that you get excellent service. All the staff, from the top downwards were amazing, so friendly, helpful and lovely. Chris was wary about doing the catamaran and glass bottom boat because of her recent knee operation and Shireene arranged on our last morning for us to go and see the turtles in a speedboat and the person who took us out helped us on and off the boat. It was a great experience. The food was excellent, good choice every day, the cocktails were great, A wonderful holiday, would definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely go back. Thank you to all for a fabulous holiday.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the ocean and to wake up in the morning to hear the waves lapping was amaz...

We have just returned from Mango Bay & although I agree that it is a lovely hotel in a good position , handy for shops etc. The sea is a beautiful turquoise, but the beach is small & a bit rocky. It is AI, but you cannot have champagne or sparkling wine, even bottled water, without paying for it, which is a bit penny pinching. The food in the restaurant is okay, but nothing special & a bigger choice would be better.
All in all enjoyed our few days, but little things let it down, although lots of people staying there thought it was wonderful, but everyone has different ideas !

We chose Mango Bay for its convenient location in the heart of Holetown, so we (and our 21 year old son) could easily walk to bars and clubs in the evening and to designer shops during the day if we wanted a break from the beach. This enabled us to enjoy the local nightlife which we certainly did! The hotel was very well managed, with staff who were both friendly and professional - and who enjoyed humorous exchanges! They really make that extra difference. The food was excellent and it was nice to have waitress service at both lunch and dinner, although the hotel is all-inclusive. We were very impressed and won't hesitate to go back. We had a really fantastic and very relaxed holiday.

Arrived at Mango Bay 18th Feb - first time in Barbados. Stayed for a week for my 40th birthday, was given a bottle of pink champagne with our meal on my special day!! Hotel lovely and clean, excellent views, brilliant location, staff friendly, food fantastic and always a differant choice each evening. Hotel well located to shops and bars. It's a must to go on the catamaran and swim with the Turtles. Andre made the best Mojito's ever! All in all had a fantastic time, looking forward to going back there.
