“Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Wanted to get out from hotel and were told about this place. Made reservations ( they insisted for 7 pm) but we were also ushered inside and tables outside were empty. In the end was probably best as it started to pour buckets so we were kept dry.

Food was nothing special and was ok. I would agree with other reviewers, service could be more friendly. We were out in less than 45 mins. Bills was also on the high side vs value of food.

Would probably try other places before coming back here , if at all.

“Last Minute Bite”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

Very nice that they could accomodate a large group last minute and the food was enjoyed by most. Not what I would call a friendly place and there are so many other great places, I would say skip it, unless you are starving and need a quick bite and want pizza

“We walked out...!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

We have been visiting Spago in 2nd Street two or three times a year since it opened. However I suspect we won't be back. We ate there last week, the food was okay but the service was average. We tried to reserve an outside table earlier this week to be told they don't do reservations. We arrived very early and despite no one sitting on the outside tables were told we couldn't have one because they were reserved! The manageress was so surly and gave the impression she didn't care if we ate there - so we left. I really hope that whoever owns Spagos reads these reviews as there is a definite trend of poor service.

“Poor Food & Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

As another reviewer wrote, when we arrived we were also made to feel like they were doing us a favour by giving us a table, which we had to wait 10 minutes for, although the restaurant was half empty. Had it not been tipping down with rain we would have walked out.

As we were being ignored/waiting for menus, I overheard a furious customer say to the very surly manageress that he was disgusted by the way he and his party of business partners had been treated and that they would never come back to Spagos. In hindsight we should have left at this point.

When we eventually got a waitress, I must say she was very pleasant. However the food was not. I had linguine pescatora for main, the portion was small, the tomato sauce tasted of the tinned variety and after hunting for the seafood in my bowl of pasta, I found a 5 pence sized shrimp in there, and that was it. When I asked the waitress where the seafood was, she just laughed nervously. My boyfriend had steak which came very well done despite him asking for medium rare, but he was too polite to send it back.

The disappointment of the food, combined with having to look at the manageress with a face like thunder all night, made for all round bad experience. And an expensive one.

“Nice, but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

Nice Italian in Holetown's 2nd Street. Some seating outside, but mainly indoors. Fairly basic menu. Service is good and the pizzas large and tasty. Slightly overpriced for what it is.
