“Highlight of our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

Our visit to erg chebbi was a highlight of our trip to Morocco. Spent a wonderful day with Said travelling through the dunes on camels, he was a great guide and the dunes at erg chebbi have a beautiful golden colour particular at sunset. Omar was a great host, picking us up from Erfoud following our bus trip from Marrakech, and helping us to rearrange our transport plans when we decided, a short notice, to stay an extra night at sandfisch. Sleeping in the tent was a great experience, and while it was little chilly at night in early December we were provided with plenty of blankets and the daytime temperature was perfect. Highly recommended, and make sure you dont rush your trip.

this is really a must for everyone who love adventure! The Sand Fish people were very hospitable and super friendly. It was a week to remember ... the sunrise on the top of a sand dune, riding a camel, sitting on the roof of a jeep, delicious breakfast, campfire with live music by the Touaregs, sleeping in a nomad tent, Merzouga visit, great Tajine, snowboarding in the sand, beautiful kasbahs and many more!

We had a brilliant experience at Sandfish. The location is amazing with the beautiful dunes just a whisper from your bivouac flap. The owner and young lads working were lovely and very talented at cooking tajines and entertaining us on the drums at night around a bonfire. The facilities were very adequate considering you are in a desert. The bivouac was very clean and comfortable with candles and carpeted flooring. Thanks everyone for a memorable time and we will be back for more nights in this incredible place in Morocco.

Obviously having never stayed in accommodation like this one, it's hard to compare and review Sandfish to other bivouacs in the area, but I can say that I really enjoyed my stay. We stayed in the bivouac (tents), which was a surreal and amazing experience. It was riduculously hot at night inside the tent since there were no gaps for wind to come in but all the more unique of an experience because of it. We didn't have a lot of interaction with the staff since our tour guide and driver took care of us during our stay, but the place itself is decent.

Although it's pretty hard to eat your dinner inside a building like this that has no windows in the dark with no electrical lights but from what I could tell, the food was decent as well. The showers, toilets and sinks were very basic and obviously not up to urban or even village standards, given that this building was in the middle of nowhere, but they were very appreciated amenities here given how hot it was in the desert during the day (and even at night inside the tents). The tents themselves were basic but functional and exactly what one would expect for a tent in the middle of the desert!

All in all, I'd definitely recommend a stay in a bivouac like this one. A once in a lifetime experience!

We had such a fantastic stay in Sandfisch, everything was perfect..the camel ride in the desert, night in the tent among the dunes, the food (they cooked the best tajine we had eaten in Morocco!).. And Omar, the owner and all the other guys working there are such amazing people! Generous, helping fun... Thank you all!! We would love to go back again!

Will totally surpass your expectations. Omar and his team really know how to prepare a good meal, host guests in a beautiful setting, and show you the best the desert has to offer. I would highly recommend this place for people looking for a glimpse of life in the desert with the comforts of good company and food.

Overnight in Berber Tent, you see blanket of stars and wondering where you are on earth. The golden desert of Erg Chebbi, the experienced and young camel man - Mr Said, plus the delicious fresh salad ... what a wonderful place and people!

The only things I'm a bit disappointed is the cleanliness, basically there is no proper toilet at the desert. You can imagine how unhygienic it could be and inconvenient for female to have nature calls on the desert/sand (choose the best place at your own risk). Perhaps I'm just too desperate to get a clean toilet on the desert. Let me clarify, there is proper washroom at the hotel/hostel, but not the one at the desert.

Remember to bring more water to clean your hand, toilet papers, a small torch, and insects repellent before entering the desert. And leave the rest to camel man, enjoy the starry starry night!
