“Paradise Found”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2010

I went with a large group of friends to Infinity Bay a few weeks ago and had such an incredible time. If you love the beach and ocean than this is the place for you. The infinity edge pool alone makes this resort worth it. Not to mention the swim up bar where you can cool off with a refreshing beverage after a morning snorkel. Speaking of snorkeling, did I mention the ocean is literaly just a few steps from your room? And a few steps into the water brings you to the second largest barrier reef in the world? Well now I have. Within minutes of having your breakfast on the huge patio's with excellent views you can be snorkeling with Sea Turtles, Manta Rays, and any color and type of fish you can think of. Don't worry none are the biting type. Just cool to look at. If you are a diver, Roatan has plenty to offer you. The dive shop Bannanarama is right next door whether you want to get certified or go on a night dive they are top notch and friendly. Everyone that works at Infinity are friendly as you could want from the sales associates to the bar staff. Everyone is there to make your trip as enjoyable as possible. Now for some of the amenities. This place is brand new so you have all the amenities of home. Beautiful large rooms with new appliances such as dishwashers and washer/dryers. The floors are a very nice tile and the balconies are huge with ceiling fans! The beds are very comfortable and large. The bathrooms have a tile walk in shower which is nice. There is a shuttle to get you to and from the airport as long as you give them notice. There are a few restaurant within walking distance but for a few bucks you can take the water taxi to "West End" where there is plenty of shopping, restaurants, and nightlife (more so on the weekends). I reccomend renting scooters and driving around the island as well. There are also charters to go fishing or just to take day trips around the island . All in all, this place is fantastic and I will definately be back. The best part of this all is this place is only 2.5 hours from Houston!

“Location. Location. Location.”

Are you kidding me? I finished my third Salva Vida, walked 20 yards, and swam with a sea turtle. I thought those things were extinct or something. Best vacation ever!

“Roatan, A hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2010

Where should I begin? The resort is breathtaking, the view from our room, the view from the pool, the beach... it is all more than we expected. We had heard amazing stories about Roatan, but none matched what we experienced. The grounds were beautiful, the condos had modern amenities and the service was the best. While all of the wait staff was attentive, we loved Tony.
Whether you just want to sit by the pool or beach or go on an excursion every day...Roatan is for you. I'll be the first to admit that I was nervous about snorkeling. I don't know what I was worried about. You just walk out your door to the beach and right there is a beautiful reef all for you! The water is so calm there. So whether you're an experienced diver or a novice snorkeler like myself, you'll find that seeing the beautiful creatures of the ocean is quite easy.
While the spa is not completed, you should definitely get a massage from Edgar. Reception can set up an appointment for you in either your room or Edgar's office, and the price is fabulous! I had the chiro-massage and felt like a new person.
Transportation was also a breeze. All you had to do was ask the guys at the bar for a water taxi or go to the reception for a shuttle or taxi. We had a large group of varying personalities, and all agree that this was one of our best vacations ever!

“Truly amazing location”

Review of Infinity Bay

Just spent a long July 4th weekend at Infinity Bay. I must say this was a great resort on a spectacular beach setting. Having traveled all over the world, the beach was superb and the reef that is directly off the beach was amazing- one of the best I have ever snorkeled (almost as nice as Australia's Great Barrier Reef), with baby turtles and a nice variety of fish.   The fine white powder sand felt great walking through.

The buildings were arranged as 2 single strips of high density condos/time shares and in between is a large infinity pool. If they tell you your room has an ocean view, you may be disappointed cause there are a lot of trees.  We were on the first floor and didn't really have a view. It was ok though, cause it's a quick walk to the beach, which is by far the best on the island. Our room was nicely appointed, with a good-sized full kitchen and bar that overlooks the living room. The bedroom was rather dark. The pillows could use an upgrade and the bed was decent, maybe a bit firm (but you'll probably fall asleep immediately after all the water activities). The bathroom was very nice and modern, with a travertine walk-in shower.  Water pressure was good and no problems with hot water. You can even drink the tap water, as there is quite the filtration system. There was that musty resort smell that smells a bit stale, but that was not really a concern cause once you get the AC cranking it dissipates and the room gets nice and cool. The island still suffers from a power problem, with some Texas tycoon controlling it, and overcharges for energy (we heard $900 a month for a 2-bedroom house!), and there are controlled blackouts (luckily the resort has a back-up generator that kicks right in). We thought there would be a mosquito and bug problem, but it was not that bad... a few bites, yes, but that's expected for this part of the world.  Plenty of closets, drawers, and a safe. There's even a washer and dryer. Overall, first rate.

As for service, this could be improved, but since it's not really a hotel, we didn't expect top notch service with a smile. There were a few rude bartenders and other service personnel, but there were also some really nice staff as well. Don't expect to walk up to the bar or restaurant and be served right away... this is after all a relaxed atmosphere, so allow time.

While an airport connection was included with our stay, we may opt to take a taxi next time. When we arrived, we waited about half an hour in a small hot uncomfortable van while our luggage sat on the curb and was eventually put in a separate truck. If you need to be with your luggage, take a taxi.  The same for the trip back.  Nervous passengers paced for 20 minutes until a tarp-covered truck pulled up.  Also, the resort doesn't have a proper reception area. You pretty much get dropped off on the street in front in an awkward area and make your way down a ramp to what seem like an underground reception area. While we were there we did not notice any construction, as mentioned in previous reviews.

Overall, Infinity Bay is the premiere place to stay on the island. I recommend taking a water taxi (which is right from a dock on the property's beach) to the West End town and having breakfast at the Lighthouse Cafe, with great views of the waterside town (and a great breakfast for 2 cost only $13).  US dollars are accepted everywhere. We also did a fun tour underwater on these electric scooters that look like individual yellow submarines. Your head stays dry underneath the water while you sit on a small electric propeller machine that takes you on an underwater reef tour. Very very cool. Think of the submarine ride at Disneyland, but you are in control- and divers are right next to you to make sure you are ok. Google Roatan BOB to find out more- a fun and safe alternative to diving. Also, two other places to eat that I suggest are The Vintage Pearl (more pricey, but amazing service and food), and another fun for the kids type place is Celeste's that has a bunch of parrots that sit right next to you as you eat.

“great place, bad service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2010

The hotel is pretty nice, the rooms are new, with a kitchen, nice, dining room and living room. Food was great but service AWFUL!! People in general are not nice and everything takes time, from the waiters to the front desk.
The hotel is on the nicest beach of the island, there is reef just in front of the hotel,so you can scuba or snorkel.
