“Roatan, A hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2010

Where should I begin? The resort is breathtaking, the view from our room, the view from the pool, the beach... it is all more than we expected. We had heard amazing stories about Roatan, but none matched what we experienced. The grounds were beautiful, the condos had modern amenities and the service was the best. While all of the wait staff was attentive, we loved Tony.
Whether you just want to sit by the pool or beach or go on an excursion every day...Roatan is for you. I'll be the first to admit that I was nervous about snorkeling. I don't know what I was worried about. You just walk out your door to the beach and right there is a beautiful reef all for you! The water is so calm there. So whether you're an experienced diver or a novice snorkeler like myself, you'll find that seeing the beautiful creatures of the ocean is quite easy.
While the spa is not completed, you should definitely get a massage from Edgar. Reception can set up an appointment for you in either your room or Edgar's office, and the price is fabulous! I had the chiro-massage and felt like a new person.
Transportation was also a breeze. All you had to do was ask the guys at the bar for a water taxi or go to the reception for a shuttle or taxi. We had a large group of varying personalities, and all agree that this was one of our best vacations ever!

Review of Infinity Bay

Just spent a long July 4th weekend at Infinity Bay. I must say this was a great resort on a spectacular beach setting. Having traveled all over the world, the beach was superb and the reef that is directly off the beach was amazing- one of the best I have ever snorkeled (almost as nice as Australia's Great Barrier Reef), with baby turtles and a nice variety of fish.   The fine white powder sand felt great walking through.

The buildings were arranged as 2 single strips of high density condos/time shares and in between is a large infinity pool. If they tell you your room has an ocean view, you may be disappointed cause there are a lot of trees.  We were on the first floor and didn't really have a view. It was ok though, cause it's a quick walk to the beach, which is by far the best on the island. Our room was nicely appointed, with a good-sized full kitchen and bar that overlooks the living room. The bedroom was rather dark. The pillows could use an upgrade and the bed was decent, maybe a bit firm (but you'll probably fall asleep immediately after all the water activities). The bathroom was very nice and modern, with a travertine walk-in shower.  Water pressure was good and no problems with hot water. You can even drink the tap water, as there is quite the filtration system. There was that musty resort smell that smells a bit stale, but that was not really a concern cause once you get the AC cranking it dissipates and the room gets nice and cool. The island still suffers from a power problem, with some Texas tycoon controlling it, and overcharges for energy (we heard $900 a month for a 2-bedroom house!), and there are controlled blackouts (luckily the resort has a back-up generator that kicks right in). We thought there would be a mosquito and bug problem, but it was not that bad... a few bites, yes, but that's expected for this part of the world.  Plenty of closets, drawers, and a safe. There's even a washer and dryer. Overall, first rate.

As for service, this could be improved, but since it's not really a hotel, we didn't expect top notch service with a smile. There were a few rude bartenders and other service personnel, but there were also some really nice staff as well. Don't expect to walk up to the bar or restaurant and be served right away... this is after all a relaxed atmosphere, so allow time.

While an airport connection was included with our stay, we may opt to take a taxi next time. When we arrived, we waited about half an hour in a small hot uncomfortable van while our luggage sat on the curb and was eventually put in a separate truck. If you need to be with your luggage, take a taxi.  The same for the trip back.  Nervous passengers paced for 20 minutes until a tarp-covered truck pulled up.  Also, the resort doesn't have a proper reception area. You pretty much get dropped off on the street in front in an awkward area and make your way down a ramp to what seem like an underground reception area. While we were there we did not notice any construction, as mentioned in previous reviews.

Overall, Infinity Bay is the premiere place to stay on the island. I recommend taking a water taxi (which is right from a dock on the property's beach) to the West End town and having breakfast at the Lighthouse Cafe, with great views of the waterside town (and a great breakfast for 2 cost only $13).  US dollars are accepted everywhere. We also did a fun tour underwater on these electric scooters that look like individual yellow submarines. Your head stays dry underneath the water while you sit on a small electric propeller machine that takes you on an underwater reef tour. Very very cool. Think of the submarine ride at Disneyland, but you are in control- and divers are right next to you to make sure you are ok. Google Roatan BOB to find out more- a fun and safe alternative to diving. Also, two other places to eat that I suggest are The Vintage Pearl (more pricey, but amazing service and food), and another fun for the kids type place is Celeste's that has a bunch of parrots that sit right next to you as you eat.

The hotel is pretty nice, the rooms are new, with a kitchen, nice, dining room and living room. Food was great but service AWFUL!! People in general are not nice and everything takes time, from the waiters to the front desk.
The hotel is on the nicest beach of the island, there is reef just in front of the hotel,so you can scuba or snorkel.

This has been our second stay at this resort. I have been fortunate to rent from current owners who really work closely with you to ensure a great experience. I would never change this, although I am sure there are some benefits with renting directky from the resort staff.

As for my stay it was excellent. The Iinfinity Bay staff have really polished up since my last visit and are much more responsive to your needs. They are currently under new management, his name is Rick and he is really working hard to develop a stronger impression. The staff keeps the grounds pristine and although slow to develop the construction has come along. They now have an actual reception desk instead of a ground floor condo that they used to use before.

The food is excellent at the resort. I did travel a few times into West Bay and tried a few location to include the Argentinian Grill (Awsesome) as well as the new Mexican Restaurant Cannibal, which was very good (Fish Tacos) and reasonably priced. The beach outside of the resort stands strong and is STILL one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited. This is coming from a Miami native, that has plenty of experience with beaches throughout Florida and the Carribbean. The diving at Bananarama is still awesome and I will once more submit a great review for them and their service.

You will not go wrong with your stay at IB. They have every conceivable convenience that a family could need during a beach vacation away from home. Their filtered water is truly better than the bottled water offered throughout the Island. Ask for yourself and you will be educated on what a green and forward thinking resort this is. This is the BEST resort on the BEST part of the beach on this beautiful island.

Thank you everyone at IB and look forward to my next stay. Saludos!!

My partner and I were at Infinity Bay for the first 2 weeks of January 2010. The beach was best we've ever stayed at: the snorkeling was beyond fantastic and steps from our room. The amenities in the suite were great - we particularly liked having the use of a washer and dryer. And as if the location was not perfect enough, the staff was 10 out of 10: professional, relaxed and always courteous. In particular, one day I got a rather nasty jelly sting (I was the only unlucky one in the whole resort) and the manager of guest services took me personally in her car to the local clinic to get it looked at. Thanks Lyndel!! Amazing. We'll be back for sure.

First of all, there is no better location on Roatan that West Bay Beach, and Infinity Bay is in the best stretch of that beach. Our two bedroom unit was perfect for my wife and me and two 19 year old girls. We could eat in, stock the refrigerator or enjoy the food in the restaurant which we found to be very good. The pool is huge and beautiful, provided all of the ladies with all the sunbathing they wanted and the swim up bar took care of the rest of their needs. Carlos was a great bartender and deserves special recognition for his attention to guests. We felt safe, any thing we needed was available, the staff extremely helpful in arranging a car rental for a couple of days, and unlike a couple of other reviewers, we were totally unaware of any construction noise or anything related to building. Our prices were exactly as presented when we made our reservation three or four months in advance. I don't think that there is a better choice for a hotel if you are looking for something a little upscale and providing the amenities that make a vacation enjoyable. Finally, diving is available from a number of firms, but I DEFINITELY recommend Ocean Connections, just next door. One note . . the spa in the name is not accurate. There is not one, but we understand that an arrangement has been made with Celeste's to provide spa services beginning next month.

Lovely room and very spacious too. Mirrored their website for everything they offered. Terrfic beach, very clean, and close to the reef.

Room was a 1 bedroom premium, beach front------great location close to the pool, bar, restaurant, and wonderful beach views.

Pool was nice, clean, and not very crowded in May. Apparently, May is part of the slow season and it was nice to not have a crowded hotel. Service at the bar/restaurant was timely, food was good, and service was above average. Plus, the staff was very friendly.

Hotel Security: They were always around on the beach, by the pool, and at the entrance to keep venders off site, and keep only the paying hotel guests on the properly. Many nights my girlfriend and I would hang out in the pool or on the beach late at night and it was nice that someone was always on duty. They never said much but it was nice to know someone was around.

Great location for the hotel, it was not stuck in the crowded West Bay area and a nice water taxi could take you to West Bay for restuarants and shopping for a few bucks per person.

My girlfriend and I visited other hotel in the area and for our needs, this was the best choice.
