“Mixed emotions this second visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

We are repeat guests at Infinity Bay. Our stay was from 3/22/-29. We just returned last night. We rented from the same owner who is a pleasure to work with. The only reason I rated it excellent is because of the staff. Elda, Swiss, and Ziggy made us laugh!!! BTW Rick, Elda needs to be back behind the bar, she is always smiling unlike the other girl who is back there now. The major turn offs this time were the front desk asking for my passport number? I am very uncomfortable doing this. Who is to say this info will remain safe? Who is to say a fake will not be made? Really UNACCEPTABLE. The US embassy will advise you against giving out that information unless it is an immigration officer asking. Second turnoff was the wristbands that were " required" to be worn even if you rented from an owner. This was not the case last year. Another issue ( no fault of the resort) is parents not watching their kids. It was almost IMPOSSIBLE to relax by the pool. I finally lost it one day and went after a parent. I love this resort, not sure if we will return :( We also had some questionable bar tabs. I only signed for one lunch, but had several bar charges that totaled more than $100.00. How does this happen if you do not sign? I actually watched a girl give the bartender's THREE different room numbers? Rick, you need to get a handle on this.

Dear MichiganBmorrison,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and we appreciate the excellent rating you afforded us. The passport documentation at check-in is actually required by Honduran law...they actually come out throughout the year to ensure the logbook is in compliance. If this was not required by the government we would have no interest in this procedure. Wristbands are an important element to the safety and security of the resort. All the resorts in Roatan use the ID wristbands but if you really don't want to wear it - simply take it off and keep it in your pocket....no worries! Thanks for your other comments and suggestions as they will be reviewed. Also, thank you for the kudos to the staff.

Hope you return!

Im a little late getting this review in, but here goes. My wife and I were at this resort on feb 10 for 2 weeks and enjoyed every min. The staff in all areas were outstanding. Elder (grounds person)who got coconuts for me for my morning drink. im missing it already..lol..wait staff Jamie, Darlin, the cook Harlan great meals...bar staff puma, swiss, iggy, steve mcqueen...momma says hi and misses you guys. I also want to send out a special thanks to Captain Alex and first mate Kevin who took us on a couple of wonderful sailing trips and snorkling, I got lots of wonderful underwater pics. I want to thank Rick the manager for his unending efforts to make everyone feel like family at this resort. We had a wonderful time at your resort Rick and what a treat it was to be able to drink the tap water. I loved that. The grounds were always kept clean and beautiful. The beach goes without saying, best beach in the area. Our room was far better than i could hope for. A place I could call home. Thanks Rick to all the good memories and all the staff that made it enjoyable. Keep up the good work. If I could find any thing that bothered us it was that sometimes the beach bar was hard to get drinks in a timely manner. It could use some improvement, but was still ok. We found the food was better at the beach bar than the buffet sometimes(variety wise). We did eat most of the time in the buffet for breakfast and dinner but found the beach bar good for lunch...its all good to me though..hehehe. To all the Bar Staff at the beach..momma sends her love..lol.. keep up the good work.

We love Infinity Bay - we came back for a 2nd year March 10th-17th. We came AI through Sunwing. The proximity of the reef, relaxed feel and genuine warmth from the staff is what brings us back.

The servers are amazing. Yes, it takes a while at the bar and the restaurant but it doesn't bother us. The staff are incredibly friendly, I like chatting with everyone hanging out while I wait. We like the buffet as well, healthy, fresh food every day. We appreciated the Exec Chef Idra accommodating our daughter with life threatening nut allergies. The Palapa Bar is a long wait but again, didn't bother us, we were chatting and enjoying ourselves. The slow pace is ok by us.

The rooms are fantastic. The cleaning is often late in the day (as they handle checkouts early) but again, didn't bother us. The staff were so nice.

It is busy on the beach on cruise ship days, which I don't like but I love that the reef is at my feet. I can snorkel all day if I want to...and did. My teenagers love the busyness.

The only advice I could give is to get more umbrellas as people were reserving chairs early just to stay in the shade. It could be solved with more shade.

The pluses of the resort well outweigh the small niggles. It works for our family!

Thanks to all the staff for making it a fantastic vacation for us.

Room Tip: Lower floors are easier to manage!!

February in Roatan at Infinity Bay Spa and Beach Resort was everything we could ask for! Our condo was beautiful, an upper floor condo overlooking the pool. The staff is very friendly and very willing to help and serve in every way! We felt like old friends who just belonged there. The grounds are gorgeous and the beach, pool and snorkeling were all amazing. No complaints at all. We will be back. Thank you!

Room Tip: You really have very little privacy on the ground floor units. Everyone passing by day or night (e...

Awesome snorkelling just off the beach. Great food and accommodation.
Thanks Marlon and Brady for making our holiday memorable.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom, two bath. The room had a full kitchen. We had a 9 person catered dinner on the balcony with lots of space to spare. The wait and kitchen staff surpass our expectations!

Stayed at Infinity Bay March 17-24 with my daughter and her family. We came Sunwing so were All Inclusive. Unfortunately, on checking in, they couldn't find our reservation, but finally gave us a 2 Bed 2Bath condo on the second floor, even though we had asked for a ground floor unit. No worries, the unit we had was lovely, well set up and everything worked. None of the elevators worked though, so was a bit of a hassle dragging these old legs and a 4 year old up two flights of stairs.Thats why we wanted a ground floor.

RESTAURANTS
We were all inclusive so had most of our meals in the International Buffet. Its too bad that its located at the rear of the resort and on the 2nd floor, more steps. Apart from this, the food was top notch and the staff very nice and attentive. They are very short staffed so sometimes getting drinks to go with our meal, very slow. Also, the white wine is terrible. We were allowed 2 meals at the LaPalapa Restaurant which is hopeless. We waited half an hour for a drink and 21/2 hours for our meal which really can't compare to the International Buffet, whose offerings were delicious.
The service at the Beach Bar is SLOW and is grand confusion. They perhaps need another bar to serve the customers in the Restaurant as this Bar serves both people on the beach, the pool and in the Restaurant. One bartender in particular, when asked for a Strawberry Daquari on one occasion, and another drink, on another, said he didn't know how to make it, Really !

Apart from all the negativity mentioned above, it is a gorgeous place for a Holiday. The condos are great, the beach, water and reef to die for, and the weather was perfect. We took one excursion through Sunwing, the Island Tour. We arranged our own excursion for the Dolphin Encounter and saved $50. The bugs weren't too bad when we were there but there were a lot of mosquitos in the condo.

Overall, great place. I know Management is working hard to improve a lot of the complaints of slow service and am sure they will sort it out, meantime they are lucky to have some great people working for them. We loved Roatan and the Resort and would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Buildings 15 and 16 are ideal as they are quieter and still only a short walk to the pool and beach.

Stayed last April. (returning in 2 weeks!)

Great place! Its a mixed bag of people.
All Inclusive (from Canada... us ;-) ) and A la carte from everywhere else.
Pros-

- The Beach is perfect...Snorkel/scuba. probably some of the best in the carabean.
Water almost always calm & clear.
-Food is very good
-weather was perfect the whole week
-Staff was very friendly. with the exception of a couple grumpy's..
-The bar... with the right staff working,Great service!
-Plenty of beach chairs and if timed right, towels.
-Pool is probably the nicest on the island. We haven't seen the completed one at their sister property The Grand Roatan. It did look like it was going to be awesome as well.
-Met quite a few people from around the globe. Very cool experience.

Cons....(If you want to call them that)

-The Beach. Sometimes a little overcrowded with Cruise peeps..
(They are not very respectful of the reef/Beach.. etc.)
-The food as mentioned was very good, however the main dining area is located at the very back of the property and up a couple flights of stairs.(Long haul for a quick snack.)
When there, the feeling is almost cafeteria like. It has the potential to be so much more. That said the palapa restaurant on the beach was also very good, but service was very slow.(island time.)
-The Bar with the wrong staff in place was exceptionally slow.
(just an FYI to management. My kids were given alcoholic drinks twice at the pool.I know mistakes happen, but they were 11/13.Just a heads up.)

We had a great time at IB and would return in a heartbeat.
If you are planning a visit, I have no doubt it will be an enjoyable one.
The West Bay Beach is lined with many small restaurants that are great to
visit for lunch or an evening dinner. Its a nice way to mix things up.

If your looking for a 2000+ room 5 star phoo phoo place, your on the wrong island.
Roatan is small, laid back and friendly. Just the way I like it.
I hope it stays that way as well.

Thanks for a great time to Rick and his crew at Infinty Bay!
