“My new place to stay in Roatan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

I have visited Roatan several times but always stayed somewhere else; I'm glad I found this hotel. Check-in was smooth. We received a free welcome drink at check-in. You get a wrist bracelet at this hotel and need it to charge to the room and should have it to get the included breakfast, so make sure it isn't overlooked. We did not get them for some reason and stopped in on our second day to get them to make everything easier.

Our room was on the bottom floor at the far end of the property and was not wheelchair accessible. Make sure you check with the hotel before booking here as I'm not sure any of the rooms would be. Our room was large and adequately stocked. There was a TV, small bathroom with amenities (shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer), safe, plenty of closet space, and a small deck and a large patio with table and chairs.

The grounds are lush and tropical and there are several dining options available on site. There is a small pool behind the pizza restaurant and another larger one off the dining room where breakfast was served. Both were secluded and surrounded with beautiful vegetation. Lounge chairs with cushions are available at both pools. The beach is a short walk through the trees. Beach chairs and towels are provided, although the beach is somewhat sloped and they are the hard plastic style (a little uncomfortable for any length of time). The beach and water are fantastic. Many restaurant options are a short walk down the beach.

The breakfast buffet had a nice choice of options: several kinds of fresh fruit, breads and rolls, yogurt, meats, cereals, pancakes, french toast, eggs, etc. We were there for 5 days and there was plenty of variety to not get bored.

We needed to make local calls while there and the front desk kindly made them on their cell phone as the phone in the room only contacts the front desk. I was very pleased with this hotel and thought it was a great value. Definitely recommended!

I travelled to Roatan mostly to sample the snorkelling. My snorkel buddy and her husband accompanied me on the trip. I had checked reviews before booking, and this resort seemed to fit my needs. It's small, which I like, and has a great location, close to the best spot to begin off the beach snorkelling without dodging the water taxis.

We travelled with Sunwing and arrived mid morning. Getting through the airport immigration takes a while, so pack your patience. Once through with that, transfer to the resort went smoothly. On arrival, we got our rooms promptly. We had asked for upstairs in a quiet location, and received rooms on the second and top floors, one directly above the other. The rooms were nice, with king sized beds and a large balcony. They were kept very clean by the maid, and everything from the air conditioning to the water pressure and temperature was just fine. No complaints.

The hotel wasn't very full when we arrived, so the first few days they did not have a buffet and instead we ate a la carte. The food was very good and plentiful. I am primarily vegetarian, but I did cheat and try the fish, which was excellent. Perfectly cooked and very tasty. Once the guest population warranted it, the buffet was again in operation. I was more than happy with the selection and quality. The cooks were also open to any food preferences or suggestions. If there is something you especially crave, ask them. If they have what you want available, it's likely you will receive it. (we mentioned Key Lime Pie, and a couple of days later it was served for dessert).

We spent a fair bit of time at the beach bar, relaxing and people watching, especially on cruise ship days. We never had any problems finding somewhere to sit, and the service from the bar was very good. In fact, once our preferences were known, sometimes refills were offered before we got around to requesting them. The staff at this resort are first rate, always willing to go that extra step to satisfy guests.

Chairs at the beach were always available, although we mostly used just one to leave our stuff on while we went off snorkelling, which was our main activity. We were blessed with very good weather and a lot of our time was taken up by snorkelling or walking the beach. There is nightly entertainment, but I will admit I didn't see much of it. After supper I was tired and ready to sleep! I'm an early riser, and was on the beach most mornings to watch the sun rise.

I loved the way this resort blends in with its surroundings. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Garderners were busy raking and sweeping early in the morning. The two small pools provide wonderful spots to spend some quiet time.

The snorkelling did not disappoint, and we saw lots of interesting fish, turtles, and rays. The coral is in pretty good shape. You do have to be watchful, as dive boats and water taxis are plentiful and a hazard if you stray into their path.

I have to mention the excellent front desk staff. They were very pleasant and eager to help with any request. We were very favourably impressed by everything at this resort, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and comfortable place to stay.

Family of four spent March Break 2013 in 2 suites at this lovely spot. We had a wonderful week of R&R with nicely varied meals, a great beach super close, fabulous snorkeling, great diving with Bananarama next door, delicious strawberry Daquiris at the too-convenient beach bar (thanks Richard-bartender with flair). You are allowed one 'a la carte' meal other than the buffet so we ate at the beach one evening under the stars. The last night is also on the beach which is very charming thanks to their special lighting. Found the beach days when cruise ships were in port to be a little harried-thank god we weren't close to the 'rent-a-beach' down the way where they beach themselves by the hundreds. The beach walk to West End takes about 50 minutes and is very peaceful, especially if you go barefoot when possible. Went trolling out front with locals and caught ourselves a tuna-dinner ($200/4 hours). We've been twice and would go back again.

We stayed at Paradise Beach Hotel the week of Feb 23rd to March 2nd...and it was exactly what we were hoping for. I contacted the hotel ahead of time to confirm a shuttle for airport pickup and room type and we received exactly what was requested. We have been to many resorts in the Caribbean and this was definitely one of our favorites.

The friendly staff and excellent service really make this place special. The beach bar was great, it offered a variety of all inclusive drinks and we rarely had to wait (Richard is an excellent bartender). The food at the buffet was really good (I don't know why there are complaints) and the a la carte was excellent (pay the $5 for the lobster its worth it).

The beach and water were amazing, the snorkeling is the best I've ever experienced and access is only a short walk down the beach. We didn't find it busy or too crowded with cruise ships coming in. The dive shop at the resort was great - we went diving for our first time which was absolutely wonderful (can't wait to go again!).

Of course there are always going to be minor things that are missing or need improvement at a resort (coffee makers in the rooms would be nice, greater water pressure etc.) but overall if you are looking for a relaxing vacation with great service, good food, beautiful beaches and crystal clear water this is it! We would definitely return.

We were in Roatan in Feb for the first time. The resort was a great surprise, small, only 40 some rooms, the grounds are jungle like - it was like being in a tropical get away! Our room was on the 3rd floor and the large patio was surrounded by foliage. Very beautiful!!!! The room was average, nothing fancy but very clean and private. Great air conditioning, nice modern bathroom. Big shower. The only complaint was that the walls were thin, we could hear people in the room behind us talking, opening their closet etc. They were very early raisers and came in late!!! Otherwise a great experience.

The food was good, lots of veggies, fruit, chicken, fish - lots of healthy choices.

The staff is excellent, very friendly, kind, helpful. Had some trouble with the outdoor lighting on our floor, it was never resolved so had to be careful with that first step down! The manager was friendly and very visable.

Access to the beach very close proximity, beach bar is very nice excellent food and service. Special dinners were excellent, right on the beach.

The beach is a nice walk, snorkling, diving all right there. There's a water taxi to take you into West End for $3.00 each.

We would definately go back but would get a Junior Suite next time for a little extra room and quiet.

Room Tip: Junior suites are quieter and larger with separate living room and a kitchen.

We were a little unsure of what we would get at this little place in Roatan but were very pleased with the over-all experiense. It was like a readers digest version of all inclusive resorts. We have stayed in many larger and grander (fancy decor) resorts but this one had a intimate feel that we loved. We met many other guests who were great to talk to. The rooms were very clean, food was plentiful and very tasty! although not a large buffet we never went hungry and never had a dish presented that was unedible. They made something different each day and did not repeat much. The beach is busy but there was quiet places on the resort to get away from the "boat people" and venders. If the beach bar was busy it was only a one minute walk to the bar at the buffet restaurant. Anything you wanted was a one minute walk away. The best part of this experience was the water and the fish we saw just off the beach! Snorkeling was fabulous! No need to take expensive tours as it is all there just off the beach. Please dont stand on the coral, many of the cruise ship people are uneducated about the dont touch policy in the ocean. I would stay here again for sure. The manager by the way is getting in better wine which should be there now. All the staff tried very hard to make our stay a pleasant experience.!

Room Tip: The rooms that face the beach are the best we had the second floor 1105 and we had a huge balcony wi...

Dear Lindsay,

Thank you for your review and comments. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and as you quite rightly pointed out, we are importing better wine, so that the customer may benefit from an even better experience.

So pleased to read that you enjoyed our location and the fact that we are within a Marine Reserve. The crystal clear water, wildlife and the beach are second to none and although we try and educate all our visitors on the notion of preservation, we are always pleased when we read of those that have understood the message.

We look forward to your next visit, so that you may continue to explore our Island.

Best Regards,

Paradise Beach Hotel.

I would like to start by saying we have traveled for years, and stayed at resorts that were 3 - 5 stars. This little resort is every bit a 3.5 only because it has some limitations. I would rate it a 4.5 star on it's efforts and staff. The resort was perfect for what we were looking for, we did our research before we went and I suggest everyone do the same. If you go on any trip with unreal expectations then you will be dissappointed, if you go with an open mind and attitude to have a good time you will!. Our room was on the top floor, 1109 and we loved it, always spotless, and spelled clean every day. The good service never ended, the staff work from 6-10 every day, but I never had one staff member be rude or not smile. They are wonderful people, and are very proud of their country, as they should be. The Island is beautiful, go and see it, explore and see what you went to see. If you have gone to be waited on hand and foot, go to Mexico to your 5 star and be a princess for the week.! The only complaint we had all week, was that when the boats come , they take over the beach. The bar gets busy, and they buy their drinks, it appears that the all inclusive people are not noticed during the times that ship customers are on the beach. Our suggestions would be to have one bar only for All Inclusive, as we did get frustrated waiting for the bar tender to look our way to order a drink. The food is good, limited but very nice, no complaints about the quality of the menue. We will most likely return in the future.
