“Great Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

Travelled to Mayan Princess with a group Jan 28-Feb 11.Rooms and service superb.The staff were friendly and attentive.I attended the Mayan Divers for the open water diving course and was taught and expertly guided through the course with patience and expertise.A great thankyou and I'll return in a hearbeat.

Room Tip: Near reception is quieter late at nigt.The front near the beach gets music from nearby clubs.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We(wife and 2 sons 10/12) traveled to the Mayan princess in Jan 2012. What a great place! Small with everything you want/need only a few steps away. Including the beautiful West Bay beach. We stayed in the Pool View Tower Condo. 2nd floor with Great views towards the ocean!

Nice and quiet. If it’s a party all night place your looking for, your at the wrong place. As well as end of the island. Its generally quieter in the evenings in West Bay.
The MP was recently taken over by new management and we could see improvements being worked on while we were there as well as thru the year as I have been reading in other reviews. Looks like the Bar has been torn out and replaced?

The place is immaculate. The pool, beautiful. The ocean even more so. Crystal clear with the reef right off shore. I finally got my wife to try snorkeling on our last day…. THEN she didn’t want to leave!

Here are some short points on our review.

Pro’s;
-The room was large and fantastic, with separate bedroom. Full Kitchen, sofabed set/TV. Huge balcony with tb l& chairs as well as a place to put our snorkel gear to dry.
-The pool is a nice place to chill out after a long day at the beach. A couple cocktails go perfectly there.
-The staff were very nice. Seemed a little shy, but always ready with a smile or some help if required.
-Food was very good over all. The MP also is owned/part of the San Simon Club next door and we had some meals over there. Buffet was good. We didn’t have the opportunity to try the alacarte. There seemed to be some issues with it being booked up, yet every night we walked by and it was all but empty?... Breakfast was stellar!! Snacks were also brought out the the beach and the pool thru the day for guest’s.
-Lots of chairs on the beach
-Entertainment in the evenings. Never too late tho.
-The Dive Shop is Mint! I am a diver, (although I didn’t dive this trip) and can say the team is professional/attentive to the groups they seemed to be endlessly taking out for dives!
-Lots to do excursion wise or just hang in the Bay for the week.
-With a small resort we were able to meet new friends and share some great times with them! Special shout out to Anna & AL!!

Con’s;
-Cruise stop…… nuff said?
-Check in a little crowded (it’s a small lobby)
-As mentioned before, we were on the second floor and had to carry our bags up alone. I know not a huge deal, but the stairs are circular and were a little diff for the kids to carry their bags. So I had to make the 4 trips myself…. I earned my cerveza's that day!
-By the end of the week the beach venders can get a little tiresome. They don’t pester. You just say no thank you and they move on. Its just by the end of the week I was tired of saying “no thank you” lol even after purchasing from same vendors.
-Did I mention Cruise stop..lol while the beach does get crowded for a few hours the MP staff ensures that guests still have full access to the chairs and pool!

As you can see, for us the cons are minimal at best. We were already planning our return trip to Roatan by the second day there!! And that was in the rain!!

I could go on and on, but suffice to say it’s the perfect escape from our day to day routines. Rest, relax and enjoy the island, the people of Roatan and the staff at the Mayan Princess.
For the people who will expect 5 star treatment/food/butler service… STAY HOME!!!! Or go to a 1700+ room hotel in the Dominican.

We are heading back this April and cant wait. See you there!

Protect the reef! LOOK…..DONT TOUCH!!

Peace out.

Room Tip: Pool View Tower's! Any. Newer, huge with great views!!

This is a small, cozy, and very friendly resort!! Every room is close to all the amenities, and every room has a kitchenette. The food at the buffet was excellent! Not a huge selection but what was offered was all very good and we never went away disappointed!! Every meal was great and we never tired of the buffet. The Luna Maya a la carte was also very good, but Calkett's a la carte was not so good. That was the only poor meal we had at the resort. But overall we were very happy with the food. Our room had a pillow top king size bed which was very comfortable. The air conditioning worked great and we were always very comfortable in our room. We were literally just steps away from the pool and restaurants. Being such a small resort, everything was just a short walk to get to. We took one snorkeling excursion from the dive shop, and for $20 per person it was well worth it!! Although the reef was just a short walk from the resort, it was nice to go out into the ocean to another reef and it did not disappoint! The staff was the friendliest we have ever encountered, Everyone spoke good English and were very courteous and helpful. We felt very safe with the resort security always making their presence felt. Richard the security guard was awesome!! I would definately recommend this resort.

Room Tip: We had a regular room that I think they called pool view. We were on the second floor and had a bal...

Excellent service, great snorkeling, very friendly staff, the most beautiful beach you will visit. Perfect weather, water crystal clear. Great scenery, if you know what I mean, Just a wonderful time overall. We didn't do the tour from Carnival but hired a taxi and the driver stayed with us all day, watched out things while we swam and shopped. Then gave us a wonderful City tour. All for $80. I gave her a $20 tip and she couldn't thank me enough. Alicia has lived in CA & spoke very good english. Took us to good shopping places. Her phone # is 011+504+98121121
if you would like it. She is worth it.

We stayed at the Mayan Princess in December around New Years Eve. Nice size rooms, good food, nice beach, awesome seating around the pools and near the bar, and great service. We went to the New Year's Eve party and had an amazing time! Not only was there a ton if food, but the band was good, there were fireworks at midnight with a champagne toast, and we had a surprise performance by the Garifuna dance group. It was really fun. I recommend the resort to travelers. We have great memories from our stay.

You could never find a better place to spend a perfect time in paradise than in this resort. The personel is so friendly that it hurts a bit when it's time to back to reality. Everyone, and when I say everyone I mean everyone is really helpful and beyond just doing their job, because they have to make a living like everyone else, they appreciate to have you as a guest. You can't beat the location because it's the best. The beach is the best on the Island and the Mayan Princess has the best spot. The food is great, you have less choice but what's on the menu is great quality. I have been here twice and can't wait to go back.
