“Enjoyed our trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2012

First we had a great flight with sunwing left on time. The check in was ok. The rooms are big as previous reviews have stated. The rooms are kept very clean. You cannot drink the water from the tap. You have 2 bottles supplied each day . I find this is not enough so we kept the empty bottles and refilled at the bar or front deck. The service at the bar, diningrooms, front desk and the towel guy was excellent. I do need to mention that you are only served wine at supper. The first week they ran out of white wine. The first two days we had alot of rain and rough seas so the boats couldnot come in with the supplies. We bought our white wine at a store not far from the resort. The next week they had white wine at dinner all the time. This was the only thing I would really like to see changed at this resort to offer wine all the time. The rooms maybe could use some upgrading but maybe in time. Any room is nice at the resort. The beach is areally nice beach. I didnot find the beach vendors a major problem. They can be more pushy on other islands we have visited. The diving was great and very professional staff and friendly staff. I would dive with Mayan divers again no problem. The whale shark excurtion was alot of money for not seeing any whale sharks. It was 150 american per person. We were told that you may not always see any. The trip to Utila was very rough there and back we had a couple of sea sick people. The boat was a speed boat but had too many people on board for the number of seats. We did tour around in Utila but it is very small but interesting. We did snorkel too. We also had a good lunch in Utila and met alot of nice and interesting people on the boat. That tour was with bay adventures. The other tour around the town through sunwing was good. We saw alot of interesting animals native to hondurus . We enjoyed our trip.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed nice

Just came home from a two week trip and we can't wait to go back again. This was our first trip to Roatan but it will not be our last. The Mayan Princess was great and we will definately be staying there again on our next stay.
Rooms: The rooms are very clean and well maintained but the furniture needs alittle updating in the room we were staying in but the bed was fine for me but a little hard for my wife's liking. The cleaning staff do a great job of keeping the rooms clean
Dining: We have been to quite a few all inclusive resorts and besides Sandals this has been the best food we have enjoyed. As this is a small resort the buffet is not the largest but the food is fantastic. For every weeks stays you are also allowed to reservations at the al carte restaurants. Both are great but the Luna is outstanding for in preparation and presentation. The chef is outstanding
Service: This is where the resort gets its highest marks. Everyone one at the resort is outstanding and this is what seperates it from the other resorts. Make sure to say hi to Siggy in the restaurant and bar area he is very special.
Diving: Mayan divers are one of the best dive operations that I have experienced and the training that they provide is world class. This is definately the place to take any course.

So to sum up this is a great resort so don't make the mistake and only book one week you will be sorry that you didn't book two

Incredible place. This is what I'd call paradise. The island is small and so is the resort but this is a positive. The condo rooms are very large and clean. All staff were fantastic. Carla, and Darlin took very good care of our group whether we were in the ocean, in the pool or sitting throughout the resort. We went as a couples group and all loved it. Most of the group did zip lining, (see my report under ziplining) and loved it. The food service was great. Being a small resort we had our own table for all meals for our group of 10. A La Cartes were great. The Mayan burger is a must along with the monkey la la. All staff was great. If you ask.....use your manners.....you shall receive. High lites was the bottled beer service. So nice. Highly recommend this resort. Some friends stayed next door and said the Mayan is by far the nicer hotel. Great scuba service and the snorkeling was fantastic right off the beach. The only flaw was the hot tub wasn't maintained enough (temp and cleaning). And that's the only negative thing I can come up with.

Room Tip: all rooms are great and less than a minute walk to the beach.

Best resort I've ever been to. The staff is like family. Has a great pool and awesome beachfront. Great for couples and families with kids. The party shuts down along the west bay strip around 11 but there's always an eager taxi/water taxi driver willing to take you to west end where the party continues and let me tell you, it's a live party down there. "Mayan Divers" takes great care of their equipment. Lots to see as a diver and snorkeller as the whole island is treated as a marine park, excellent job in protecting reefs. overall amazing trip.

What can i say...no words can describe this island.the Mayan Princess Hotel and their faboulous staff. This was the best vacation/hotel i have ever been to and i have travelled to many Caribbean Islands. The beache is amazing, calm/clear crystal water.A small resort...which is gret..no matter what room you stay in.... it is close to everything...cleanliness of the rooms the service is beyond anyone expectations. The hotel food..... welll the best food i have ever had ..it is surely a 5 star in my book.
The staff..ZIGGY,DAMARA,RUDOLPHO,SANTOS,are among the many staff members that made us feel welcomed.. they always have a smile.. a joke. or a comment to make u laugh.
The manager Juan..great person... the cook...always came out to say Hi to us....the from desk...always helpful.Security around the clock..Alden, Clarence i miss you guys... we had lots of laughs...amazing and generous people.Mark the chair and towel guy...we seem like we knew each other for yrs..the craziest guy i have ever met.miss u
The Dive Shop, the most professional/concerned divers my boyfriend has ever met. They make u feel like you are all unique. My boyfriend and I recommend this place enormously..we will be going back next year 2013 if God's Willing..
All i recommend is a little bit more of entertainment in the evenings.. it was ok for me because i was going for a relaxing vacation..The best part we did not feel that we had to get out of the resort.since you can go to any resort and eat as long as u pay . We met amazing people from all over the world lucy and joss feb 2012 miss u all xoxoox

Room Tip: all rooms are great..wherever you stay is fine..close to everything

We spent 4 days at the Mayan Princess. The hotel room was comfortable and clean. The grounds are immaculately manicured. The location from any room is just a quick walk to the most beautiful beach. West Bay has many nice restaurant/bars to eat at and we enjoyed stopping at them throughout our stay. Since we did not do the all inclusive, we did some simple cooking in the room. It was missing a few basic things (pitcher for water or juice, cheese grater, juicer). It would have been nice if they would provide at least salt and pepper. The hotel and staff were all great, the only real complaint I'd have is for what you pay for the room, wifi should be included. There is a $10 charge per day. We did find free wifi at a bar close by down the beach, thus spent our time and money there.

We spent our 10 days at Mayan Princess in a very spacious flat ocean front. The hotel is well located in one of th most beautiful white sand beach in the island. It is a very nice place to stay if you do not need to interact with the staff of the hotel. Our room was just a couple of feet from the beach, which was amazing. The hotel claim themselves to have beach service for guests, but if you are not at the all inclusive packag as we were not, you need almost to beg for the guy in charge of the beach service to provide you with clean towels, chairs and umbrellas. Once the guy realized you are not at the all inclusive, he starts to ignore you, unless you provide him with a bribery. Seems he has recommendations from the staff for providing service for non all inclusive guests as long as there are left towels, chairs and sun umbrellas, which does not happen before lunch time. For the night of New Year's Eve, the hotel promoted a party nearby by the facility stating that there would be snacks and free beverages. After over two hours at the party we realized there were no snacks. We claimed our money back and a lady naming her as supervisor of the hotel (Mary Ann) said that it was not refundable and the reason why there were no snacks is because they were too busy with other stuffs. Just after stating we would go to the police station she called the manager of the hotel and after a very arrogant statement he agreed to refund our money. After talking with other guests and employees evebody agreed that the hotel is in a superb place, but very poored managed. All realized that there was a lack of clean towels, the sun umbrellas were in a very bad conditions (if you get one). The restaurant for breakfast wasn't clean either. The only reason why I still gave 2 stars for the place is because they host an amazing diving company. Very responsible and friendly people. Due to the outstanding place it is located the hotel could be a perfect place for relaxing, beaching, having fun if it was better managed.
