This was our first visit to Roatan. It was a great holiday and much too short!!
Las Rocas is a quaint little resort with cute little cottages in a gorgeous garden setting, located on the very east end of West Bay, on the water. We loved the location, as we could easily walk the full length of West Bay and come back to the cozy Las Rocas in time to watch the sunset over the Caribbean. One can also walk to West End along the shore. We loved our self contained cottage with its covered deck & hammock. Service and cleanliness were great. Very friendly staff. There's always great music playing at the bar/restaurant to get you into the island mood! Breakfast is served at 8:00 am - something different everyday, with fresh fruit and pastries. Dinner is good, too, with lobster, snapper, pasta, etc. Many evenings, divers and tourists gather for a few laughs and drinks. We came with our 7 year old so we often missed out on the late night fun! If you are a snorkeller, be prepared to swim a little ways to get to the reef and watch for water taxis. Alternatively, walk to the far end of West Bay and snorkel at Black Rock - there are no boats there. I got my open water certification here with Laura ( a patient and thorough teacher) who introduced me to the stunning underwater world of Roatan. Still in total awe. Unforgettable!!! I can't wait to go explore more of those sites!!!
Our only complaint was the uncomfortable bed. If you are 20 and stay up all night you won't notice, but if you are 40 plus, you may need a massage by day 5! And may we suggest (for those Canadians who come to stay) that Las Rocas invest in coffee makers for the rooms? I was awake at 6:00 am and thinking about coffee until it was served at 8:00 am.
