“60th birthday meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2010

Admittedly a regular to the hotel, I was not surprised to receive a warm welcome as usual at the hotel restaurant. This is a quality of the Sharnbrook hotel that I do not receive in other places and must come from the obvious pride the family have in their business. this particular excursion was for my fiancees' fathers 60th birthday and the food was of it's usual high standard. The service was quick and prompt and the food came out at the right speed and the right gap between servings. Very good standard of food, service and ambience and nice background entertainemnt in the live singer too. I would recommend the restaurant and hotel to anyone without hesitation for comfort, style and quality.

My Wife & I were invited to a Wedding at this hotel and we decided to make a weekend of it. We were pleasantly greeted on arrival and our regular double room was HUGE...more than enough room to swing a cat in!
As we arrived the day before the wedding we sampled the restaurant menu, they had a live italian singer on and the atmosphere, food and service was spot on, we had a really good time. Ahead of the big day we had a great nights sleep.
The wedding went without a hitch and from the ceremony, to the wedding breakfast to the evening party it was seamless and really well organised. Although we'd already sampled the food in the Vesuvio restaurant, we thought that the mass catering may make a difference, however the wedding menu food was fantastic.
This is a family run hotel and the family is nearly always on duty, if you stay for a couple of nights you get to see them quite a bit - Peppe's a real character and built the hotel himself...but the whole family are really nice, attentive and couldn't do enough for us.
The layout of the venue, the italian food, marble floor, music, ambiance reminded us of being in the mediterranean....we really enjoyed our weekend...
We had a discounted wedding rate of £85 including breakfast & vat per night and we felt that this was good value for money!

Stayed here for one night having been at a wedding. For this, the hotel is ideal and I suspect this is the case for the hotel in general. It seems set up to cope with events, weddings, conferences etc. Thye can certainly stage an occasion.

The hotel is new, the rooms big and spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food at the wedding was good and the breakfast in the morning OK but not special.

We paid £85 for the room, which was fine bearing in mind the convenience for the wedding. I suspect that if I was staying for a "normal" stay I would consider it to be over priced.

I'm sad to say that I chose the Sharnbrook because of its Italian theme and even read a few reviews on tripadvisor. Yes the hotel is quite nice but from the moment we checked in the service was appauling and quite frankly the staff were rude. This made our anniversary celebration a rather tainted event.
Would I recommend this place? Sorry but no. I believe that any money spent in this recession should be money well spent and this certainly wasnt!

Excellent venue for both dining and accomadation. The meal in Vesuvio's was thouroughly enjoyable, especially the Homemade Tiramisu (delicious). The staff were very friendly and we were looked after during our stay. We were fortunate enough to experience live italian singer whilst drinking Amarone wine

Hotel primarily a Italian themed restaurant with banqueting rooms. Rooms are large and the stay in December was half price special opening offer at £85 per night. Not sure that for a double occupancy £170 is the correct price.

All rooms were new and furniture adequate. Some design faults in that the bathroom shower guard was too low for the shower head resulting in water on bathroom floor, no provision for soap etc whilst in the shower and the bathroom ventiliation system did not appear to be functioning. Electric heating in the room difficult to control. The corridors suffered from a noisy air conditioning system but this was not apparent in the room although the external air conditioning units in the yard at the back of the hotel units 'hummed'.

My partner attended a Xmas function in the restaurant commenting that the dining room was laid out like a school canteen and the food was only slightly better. My experience of the dining room was at breakfast!. The English breakfast food was below Little Chef standards and staff not particularly attentive or friendly. There was no atmosphere in the breakfast dining room.

No provsion of a residents lounge and the hotel had no real feel to it.

Suffered from lack of car parking space which was probably attributable to the Xmas Parties going on in the restaurant and function room. Rooms suffered from noise from the Xmas 'do's'.

Overall the hotel feels like a restaurant with rooms added.
