the hotel is great and the food is amazing, i would advise you to take the halfboard option, don't forget u r in czech republic though. Definately rent a car, the ski resort is a great place for your children to learn ski or snowboard as lessons r at unbeatble prices!

Room Tip: ask for a lake view

This hotel can boast only its good location near Lipno Lake and its wellness facilities. The hotel itself is more like a barrack of garishly-colored hallways leading to simple, unadorned rooms. Our room had a balcony, but we couldn't use it as it was destroyed. No discount for this. No flair, no extras. Aggressive lighting in the lobby bar. The breakfast was laughable, and has no relation to a "wellness" mentality with self-serve coffee and sweetened juice drinks from a machine dispenser. In the height of summer I would expect fresh local fruit and vegetables, at least. A four star hotel shouldn't have a 10am check out. Here, they charge you 20EUR per room if you check out later than 10am. Breakfast served until 10am.

We were grateful that the hotel's Italian/Thai (?) restaurant stayed open late for us. Service was kind and food okay, but nothing special.

Room Tip: Ask specifically if your room has a balcony and if it's usable. We had a great view, but couldn...

We were a group of families with kids staying at Hotel Frymburk for an extended week-end in early July 2012. We had booked a family room, which has two separate rooms. The room turned out to be right under the roof with 1/3 of the room having so low ceiling that we constantly bumped our heads.
As it was very hot outside, the room became unbearingly hot. Surprisingly, the 150 Euro/night room had NO AIRCONDITION. To make matters worse, because the Velux-style windows were in an almost horizontal position due to the roof angle, they could not be opened because we had intermittent rain showers, meaning that it would rain into the room due to the window angle. A nightmarish situation to which there was no solution, as the hotel was completely full. Had the room had a minibar, we could at least have grabbed a cold soda or beer.

The hotel has a terrasse with tables and chairs, but to our great surprise, there was no service provided on the terrasse, despite it being located 10 meters from the lobby bar. This meant that our large group ended up having lunch in the LOBBY BAR several times.
On the terrasse the hotel had a nice large barbecue, however, it turned out hat "renting" the barbecue would cost CZK 6.000 (250 or Euro) if we came with (and grilled) our own food. We ended up walking to nearfy Frymburk for dinner every night, and I suppose the hotel doesn't even realize how much they could have earned on 35 people's drinks each night if we had spent our nights on the terrasse, which we would have preferred due to the kids in our group.

Needless to say that we will not return to this hotel.

The hotel would be best described as 2 star, we had a double bad superior is regular double bad in any usual EU hotel. No minibar, apart of flat tv and balconi I am not sure what is there for 4 stars? Dirt, unpleasent staff and pool full of Frymburk neighbors which occupy pool and disturb hotel guests which pay almost 80-100Eur/night while they pay some small amount and behave like red necks. Food terrible pizza proscoutto is regular pizza with cheapest salami made by Vietnamese cook which works there. Overall very bad and duality is not meeting the price they are asking for the room. Parking is free but outside without any cameras or security. Never ever more not even for free!!!
