“Need a some time for yourself ?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

This hotel ( Only one in this city i can say ) is a hotel about 90 kms from Sohar in Oman, Just on the main road as you enter Buraimi and one of the only hotels serving Alcohol. For those who are new to Buraimi this is the only place to stay and for those who are not new, This is the only hotel serving Alcohol and got a real nice disco which is not even available in Muscat. For those travellers who want a quite stay for just themselves, This is the right Place, Rooms are nice and clean , Just a small hotel in a remote city , You cannot expect more. The restaurant serves real good food, We were surprised since some time the biggest hotels in Muscat does not serve so good, The hotel has a nice swimming Pool, Some times it can be crowded by locals or residents, The staff speak good English and are helpful . Please note there is nothing great in this city and so this right hotel just for you to relax .

From the beginning, the hotel has a big entrance with lots of car park space, a miniatur castle and a big garden where is not crowded at all.

The people at the reception are okey. They speak English well.

The room I stayed in was very big. The rooms and hotel in general is clean.

The restaurant is nearby the pool and nicely decorated. The food is delicious. Although I would suggest to look at town for different places as well. If you are fancy not to use spoon and fork for a change or something different, there are restaurants for that in Al Buraimi with lots of chicken, lamb, fish, rice and sauces.

It is a very peaceful hotel as Al Buraimi is too. One can have a very deep and quite sleep there.

If you are after posh and luxury hotels, this is not the place for you. (There are no such hotels in the town anyway, to my knowledge). However if you look for an aproximate looking and peaceful hotel, this is the place for an affordable price.

Room Tip: There are also self-contained flats/detached houses in the hotel, close to the pool. It would be goo...

The Buraimi Hotel, located in a part of Oman wholly surrounded by the UAE, is pretty much the only "international" standard choice in this comparatively remote spot. Local business recently required a two-night stay, but I have to advise any travelers with the option to stay instead in the Emirati town of Al Ain, just a few hundred meters away, where choices are more plentiful.

The Buraimi Hotel is an aging complex featuring both hotel rooms and freestanding chalets. We stayed in what were billed as the best rooms in the house, and while they were clean enough, they were also just this side of seedy, with sprung sofas, lumpy mattresses, and stained carpets. The bathrooms are basic but fine, and at least the rooms were large, with plenty of closet space. The air-conditioning was deafening and is apparently a way to ensure that all spaces in the building get their fair share of cigarette smoke.

The restaurant, "Club Tropicana" is dark and depressing, with a limited breakfast menu and dinner that ranged from a surprisingly good chicken curry to terrible Lebanese food. The property is licensed, a rarity in Buraimi; the upside of that is having a beer or drink with dinner. The downside is the presence on the property of no less than six nightclubs, each catering to a different nationality (Iranian, Indian, Russian, etc.), and each noisier and tackier than the last.

The pool, murky and uninviting, sits in a neglected garden; supposedly there's a tennis court, and there's a rusted jungle gym for children unafraid of tetanus.

Buraimi is currently a major destination for foreigners in the Emirates who need to adjust their visa status. As a result, the hotel was crowded with workers and domestics of many nationalities, all apparently staying four or more to a room and spending the better part of the day sitting in the lobby. The Hotel acts as some kind of visa broker, so there are long queues at the desk and regular announcements barked over a crackling P/A system.

If all this makes it sound kind of edgy and Wild-West fun - it's not. It's just depressing.
