“Great conference stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013 via mobile

Stayed for a conference for one night. Staff could not do enough for me, absolutely brilliant. Room was, without doubt, the best I've stayed in, including many 5 star hotels.
Only complaint was the noise from other rooms - some lovely children (which thankfully died down about 11pm) and some "romance noises" which went on a little later.
Not the hotel's fault, to be fair, but no matter how luxurious the room, it's hard to sleep when disturbed by such neighbours!

Hardwick Hall is set in the most beautiful grounds, with a picturesque lake. The hotel has a homely feel, traditionally "old" but modern touches. The reception was welcoming with tasteful fresh flowers. Our rooms were very nice with amazing views, large comfy beds & a gorgeous large bathroom.
Breakfast was everything we could have wanted, cereals, nuts, fruit, seasonal fresh fruits & berries, followed by a good cooked breakfast.Excellent. Thankyou.

Father's Day Sunday Lunch for seven was lovely. Good service and a very good selection of starters, main courses and desserts, followed by tea or coffee. Only disappointment was that the website stated a gift for dads included, which we didn't see any sign of.

My son took me for a treat for Mothers Day - not on the actual day as he was working but a couple of weeks later. Sunday lunch was fabulous - plenty of choice and served in a great atmosphere with a pianist and attentive staff. Would recommend.

Just returned from an excellent stay to enjoy friends wedding. Hotel is superb in excellent settings and staff friendly and helpful. Room was very well appointed and luxurious.
Our only disappointment was with the breakfast...my favourite meal of the day. Juices were not replenished and only breads on offer was white and brown sliced, no other breads. No choice of eggs, only scrambled which was disappointing for a hotel of this stature. We had to seek a member of staff to get tea and coffee and were left to our own devices re finding a table.... All previous can be easily rectified I feel.
Otherwise an excellent stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at front can have excellent views over parks.

This was a night Way for my mother, we booked a disabled room for her which was a twin, rooms were large, bathroom was ideal for anyone with a disability and a very good size. Beds were pushed together with one duvet, not what I'd call a twin, however we didn't want to make a fuss although the receptionist stated it was a twin 2 doors down(202) views were lovely of the lake and could also keep an eye on the car parked outside. Had a joining room door for those staying with extended family. Only negative thing about the room was it was quite noisy being next to reception, people coming back from the bar and what sounded like the receptionists heels moving around in corridor quite a bit. Sleep not too bad, couldn't close window but it was very hot in room. Woke at 7 with people heading for breakfast and the cleaners Hoover going, not an ideal room if needing the extra lie in. Recommend afternoon tea we had this in the gardens out front which was lovely as such a warm day. Service from the bar was very good, although he didn't look too happy he was very polite and nothing was a problem. Never tried evening meal, but tried breakfast which was ok, the service wasn't great but the food was nice, the best things about this hotel is the bar area and the amazing walks and seeing the wild life it has. Due to this I rated this as very good and the area would bring me back with my partner. Just wish the staff looked like they actually liked working there and it would get a much better rating. But don't let my review put you off it is a definite must try for yourself.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Went here for the weekend for a friends wedding and we were booked into a deluxe room, £99 incl breakfast. Our room was on the ground floor and had a pleasant outlook over the garden. The room itself was large and on the whole looked rather grand. It was only on closer inspection we noticed a boiled sweet, a coin and a large piece of chewed chewing gum on the floor next to the bed. We are not overly picky and didnt have to look hard at all to see these so were dismayed that the cleaner didnt either. The double bed was two beds pushed together which wouldnt have mattered if one wasnt a couple of inches higher than the other. We also noticed a smell coming from the bathroom which seemed to be coming from the drains, as it was a warm day this smell seemed to linger all weekend. Apart from all of these small quibbles the bathroom itself was large and had a big roll top bath and a double sink with a large walk in shower. There were the usual tea, coffee etc and also fresh fruit and boiled sweets which was a nice touch. Breakfast next day was fine and although the scrambled egg needing topping up and the sausages were burnt and hard it was ok. I wouldnt go back to this hotel if I didnt need to but if another wedding popped up I dare say I would return.

Room Tip: ground floor rooms escape the noise coming from the function suites
