“The Station”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

We had a delicious dinner after a long day tramping in National Park. The food was delicious, service was exceptional and I was thoroughly impressed with the meal. We came back for coffee the next morning and this was also good, and the baking on display looked tasty. By far the best option for dinner when staying in National Park.

“Nice atmosphere and good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

We arrived at our accommodation quite late on a Sunday afternoon and our host recommended The Station for the Sunday roast. We were so hungry that we opted for the three course meal at $35 (the pork or lamb roast on its own was I think only $17). Because our accommodation had made the booking we received a complimentary glass of champagne each on arrival - a nice touch. The soup was tasty, the roasts hearty and with all the trimmings and the pavlova excellent. Whilst the wines were a bit on the pricey side compared with the food, it was still a great value, excellent meal.

We actually ended up back in Tongariro on the Thursday night and went for the curry special. This night it was a Thai chicken curry ($17) & again we received glasses of champagne because we'd booked from our accommodation. It wasn't the best I've tasted but a reasonably big serve for hungry skiers and good value.

The restaurant itself is cosy and the wait staff (can't remember the young guys name) friendly and chatty without being obtrusive. I would definitely recommend The Station for a pleasant meal.

“Absolutely awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

This was place was wonderful. The food was absolutely beautiful, and I was part of a large party. Well worth the money. The atmosphere was awesome, made even better by the wonderful live entertainment. The staff were fabulous, with excellent service provided by them. Well worth the visit - a highly recommended restaurant.

“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

The owners of our motel recommended that we go here for Sunday evening roast, and we are very glad we did. We had a choice of pork or lamb and both were presented beautifully and delicious. The restaurant was warm and cosy, the service excellent.

“Welcoming and Great Brunch Meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

We were welcomed warmly and served a great brunch meal - Eggs Benedict. I had the streaky bacon while my wife enjoyed the smoked salmon. The pastries we grabbed for our train ride south were over the top delicious. We have a "Station" restaurant back home in San Diego and brought a T-Shirt to share just for fun. They handled a rush (busload/tour heading for the train) very well - luckily we did arrive just before!! Would definitely recommend to anyone passing through - make the time for a meal at The Station!
