“Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

Stayed for 6 days in April. 3rd time I have stayed at this venue in last 12 Years and it has improved. Very helpful family run business with great location and value for money. If anything it has improved with service and cleanliness.

This was a great place to stay to do the Tongariro crossing. We stayed in a 'dorm' for 4, which was two bunks but it did the trick for us and was nicer than a hostel. There are also other room options available. The place was lovely and warm and Peter and his wife were more than helpful. We even booked ourselves a half hour hot tub session which helped enormously after the walk. We used their shuttle bus to and from the crossing as well, which is $30 but definitely the easiest option. Within walking distance of Foursquare and local eateries.

The four of us stayed here for two nights. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable with fully equipped kitchen.
Owners are helpful and are happy to advise about sightseeing, restaurants, local attractions etc.
We planned for the Alpine Crossing but had to change our plan due to weather. the owners were gracious enough as to decline any cancellation charge when we adjusted our stay from three to two nights.
We will come back.

We did not double check the times for our Shuttle to the Crossing and missed the ride, they were awesome and had us a new ride within minutes after a quick phone call. Clean rooms and shower facilities, comfortable beds. Great kitchen and common room. Quiet the night we spent there, but with a few other friendly guests. Picked up groceries at a nearby petrol/food store.

We stayed here for 3 nights in March. We stayed in the two bedroom unit which was very comfortable - good kitchen, great bathroom, comfortable beds, a nice living room and free wi-fi. The motel is a mix of backpacker type accommodation and motel rooms but done very well. We did the tongariro alpine walk and used the bus from the motel to take us to the start of the track and to pick us up. A small but functional supermarket is a short walk away. We would certainly stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here the night before and after doing the Tongariro alpine crossing. It was fantastic, and well worth the price. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment and it had everything we needed. Lying on the two futons with big doonas sipping the supplied hot chocolate was heaven after a day of walking across volcanos! The shuttle to and from the crossing is also good value, and saves a lot of messing around. Recommend!
