Stubacher Hof is owned and run by Vital Alternberger and his Swedish-born wife Maj-Inger. They both make you feel very welcome in this tradtional "Hof". The rooms are large and rustic. The hotel is located directly by the railway station with trains to Mittersill and Zell Am See.
The Hof has free sauna and serves a generous breakfast and if you are on half-board you can even take seconds at the main course.
The rooms facing the Stubacher valley have amazing sunny view against the valley and are perfect for a leg rest after long hours hiking or skiing. Rooms facing north, towards the main road, can be disturbed by the road and if possible I would avoid them.
Another treat only a few hundred metres away are the lake; we have been fortunate enough to go swimming there after long treks in the Alps.
This review and the rating I give, might be considered high, as the hotel features little facilities. But it is based on comparisons with other hotels of equal size and standard. The sauna is free. The assistance is always helpful. Parking never a problem. Things like that. Everything is provided with an extra smile. That is more important than fancy extras, at least to me. To expect the top notch luxury hotel, but a perfectly decent, honest family business.
