“Enjoyable holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Returned end of august after a week, people are to quick to add bad reviews, the hotel was very nice and kept clean, bedrooms were clean and comfortable although we had a view of carpark we asked if we could be moved and straight away a room with pool view, the food was nice with plenty of it and enough variety to choose from, the bar was quick service and friendly, only complaint at bar was little kids cups to drink beer out of (pint plastic glasses prefered). There are quite a few steps leading upto the bar and hotel from pool which isnt a problem if you havent walking difficulties or arnt lazy, dassia beach by hotel was really nice with grass to lie on or beds at 5euro each so we stuck to the grass, dassia is a nice area with plenty to do and easy location from airport. you get more than you pay for with magna grecia as a cheap holiday and would return 1 day.are 8 year old daughter loved it.

Stayed here for the last week in August with my husband and our 18 month old daughter. The hotel is just off the main road up a bit of a slope, but close to all of the amenities in Dassia.

The hotel decor is very dated (dark wood, onyx and brass and red velour lifts) but is well maintained and nicely air conditioned throughout. The two pools are very nice but you have to be an early riser to get a sunbed with a parasol.

The food was good and catered for a wide range of tastes. It did get a little repetitive even after a week but there was always something that looked and tasted nice. We are not fussy eaters and enjoyed a lot of traditional greek food and salads. The drinks were cold and plentiful and there was ice cream available during the day too. No iced coffee in the all inclusive though.

There are some steep stone steps leading down from the bar/entertainment area to the pool and a few children had nasty falls when playing. Not much the hotel can do about this though.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cheap break away. You get what you pay for but we were not disappointed and would go back again.

I went on hols with my partner and his 11 yr old daughter, we booked a double room with side sea view. They had squeezed 3 single beds into a very small room with about at foot of room to walk round. The tv did not work, the radio did not work, one of the lamps faced upwards whilst th e other had fallen and faced down, the fridge did not keep anything cool , the air conditioning was that loud and ancient you could not sleep with it on at night due to the noise it made. The shower worked occasioanlly but you had to hold it over your head. The wardrobe door had very dangerous screws sticking out just at eye height for 11 yr olds.
The entertainment left a lot to be desired, the aqua aerobics were very good but at night it was bingo very slowly took over an hour, one night the childrens entertainer shouted at some kids because they moved whilst he was dancing and he said he could not concentrate.
now the good points, the rooms were kept very clean and fresh towels every day, the receptionist were very good helping us to book trips, the food was edible and there was a good variety. The pool was very clean and you also had use of another pool outside the annexe. Although there were not enough sunbeds and people were getting up at 7am to put towels out.
AHiring a boat is a must from the beach you can have it from 9am till 6pm and it enables you to explore all the caves and beaches that are inaccessible from land , and very reasonably priced.
The water park is also excellent value for money.
The weather was fantastic and we did not let the state of our room spoil what was all in all a brilliant holiday.

Now back a week from an 11-day stay at the MG with my girlfriend and my two lads, 17 and 14. Its a nice hotel, well set out on a hill off the main road. Pool is clean, hotel is clean, entertainment reasonable, we went all-inclusive and there's the usual range of cheap beers (only two drinks at once please!) and local spirits. Staff are friendly (especially Entertainment Justyna and Bar Justyna whom my girlfriend got on with really well), and a couple of the other entertainment lads. But I have to say, don't expect fabulous food. I will try anything and if you don't mind trying out some of the Greek dishes then you'll enjoy it more than most as I did; for my girlfriend it was chips and mayo most meals and fried eggs for breakfast, for my youngest, chips and pasta. I hear that there are new owners and plans for improvements to the food, but in general we got by. That said, there isn't much better to offer in Dassia itself, we hired a boat and stopped by at the fabulous Agni taverna in Agni up the coast, expensive but very good. Just watch out for the raised decking which I managed to fall off.

The rooms were pretty much standard and we were comfortable, our room had excellent aircon but the boys room wasn't quite so good.

The beach is narrow and pebbly, and generally dominated by the Chandris hotels which have beach side bars and lots of grassy areas to soak up the sun, very nice indeed. Try Eric's Place on Wednesday nights - the Lubrano brothers give some excellent traditional Greek entertainment. And also Viva, a late night bar and I think the only one in town with a great range of cocktails.

Overall a very enjoyable holiday, Greece is not cheap right now so even if you're all-inclusive, take cash! And don't expert top notch grub!

Room Tip: Get a pool view room if you can. Some rooms have very poor views.

I have just returned from my stay at Magna Graecia and wanted to share my experience. I went on my own with my 15 year old daughter and i felt safe and welcomed by all the staff there, the hotel and pool were cleaned to a high standard although the hotel rooms do require a re-furb. The air con was amazing and i loved relaxing on my balcony looking out at the beautiful view of the mountains. The food was average, pretty much the same everyday! To be totally honest we really enjoyed our holiday and i found it great value for money, wish i was still there lay at the side of the gorgeous pool in the glorious sunshine!
