“welcome home (again)!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

This is the second time that we stayed at Chateau Bourron in two years and it does not disappoint. Guy and Estrella Cordon, count and countess of Bourron, and owners of the chateau are warm, personable and helpful. They make a real effort to welcome and talk with all of their guests. We requested the same room, the Montgolfier which is the least expensive in the chateau and our request was met. The room is on the top floor (third) with 2 large windows, spacious, and bright. The bathroom was clean and large with a claw foot tub and a shower. The chateau is not as grand or opulent as others but it is well-maintained, clean and welcoming. Guy would always ask where we would like to dine and then proceed to make reservations for us in the restaurant of our choice.

The grounds of the chateau are lovely and peaceful for walks and biking and bikes are provided free. It is surrounded by moats and the front staircase is horseshoe shaped, ala the chateau of Fontainebleau. Chateau Bourron is a great location for visiting the city and chateau of Fontainebleau (10 min by car) and chateau Vaux le Vicomte (30 min). Chateau Fontainebleau is a must to visit. It is preferable over Versailles because there are no crowds and it is the most furnished of all the chateaus.

There is a Michelin rated restaurant called Le Premise which is located just outside the gate of Chateau Bourron. The food is to die for and prices are reasonable.

The ultimate questions we ask ourselves of any property or dining experience are: would we return? absolutely. Would we recommend it? definitely

Thank you Estrella and Guy Cordon for another wonderful experience. Merci beaucoup....until we meet again...au revoir!

We recently ended our trip to France and Italy with a one night stay at Chateau de Bourron. We arrived late in the day, our host helped us arrange dinner in the village and we had a most restful night. The Comte and his family made us feel as though we were staying with old friends. we had no idea we would be staying in a historic chateau, and our expectations were exceeded. We hope to visit again in the near future.

My wife, baby and I stayed here three nights in June 2013. All in all we had a lovely stay.

It’s difficult to know how to describe this place. It’s kind of a very up-market B&B, rather than a hotel (e.g. there’s no reception desk). You get to stay in lovely old chateau, in a nice room, set in very pleasant grounds, and you get the run of a fair bit of the chateau. The chateau has a faded glamour - this isn’t a modern hotel which was refurbished yesterday- but then that’s not what you’d expect.

Although you’re in a family home, you don’t feel like you’re intruding. The family have a section of the building to themselves. You don’t see much of them, but they’re always available if you need them (you can contact them from the room phone, they carry a mobile).

We were there with a young baby. The owners organised a baby sitter for us so that we could eat. They also arranged for take-away pizza (delivered) one evening, and set up table and chairs on the lawn in front of the chateau, which made for a lovely, private, relaxed meal. Another evening they booked a restaurant for us.

Other points: wifi was good, and free. Baby cot was extra. Breakfast was 15 euros: one croissant, and a buffet which included: french baguette, honey and jams, yoghurt, cereals (corn flakes, muesli), teas, coffee, hot chocolate, a couple of cheeses and ham. It was nice, but 15 euros was a bit pricey.

Arrived after a 40 hour journey, in need of rest and recuperation. And it was the perfect place for that. Set in 40 beautiful hectares of park and minimal formal gardens we wandered to the picturesque village and around the grounds. It is a place of peace and tranquility. Our host suggested a meal at their restaurant situated in the original stable block, but such a good restaurant would have been wasted on us that night (it has a Michelin star) - he happily recommended others. Not that we need one, but it provides us with a perfect excuse to return.

Relieved to find accommodation at the last minute. What a beautiful room in a beautiful chateau.Charming hosts with an excellent service, especially when you leave clothes behind in the wardrobe, and they post them to you. Thank you again Mr and Mrs de Cordon and Perrine.

Room Tip: Any room would be perfect

We stayed for 3 days in October 2012. On arrival on Sunday afternoon, the Count arranged a late lunch for us in the village. After visiting Fountainebleu on Monday, we were too tired to go out to dinner, so the Count ordered pizza for us and served it to us in the dining room. The bedroom was excellent, clean, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed long walks around the estate guided by the dog who always waited for us in the forest. The Chateau was the most enjoyable place we have stayed in many years of travel in France. We look forward to visiting again.

This beautiful chateau is perfect for a romantic getaway and retreat! The rooms have their own individual charm and the grounds are spectacular. I spent the night here on a bridal shoot and was very impressed by the owners welcoming hospitality and warm friendliness, especially with having to deal with late and long hours that come with any photographic shoot. Sadly 1 night was far too short for me in this beautiful chateau and I am excited to hopefully return soon for relaxing and pampering break.
