7 of us travelled as a family - age range 6 years to 59 years. We have holiday'd around Europe, africa and the carrib for years but this hotel, location and staff was certainly the best all in all holiday ever, and for an amazing price.
All of the staff, from gardeners to maids to bar staff to restaurant to kids club to entertainment to management were fantastic, they couldn't do enough for us and never expected tips or hastled us. it was a pleasure to give them a present or small tip as they were so polite and appreciative.
I have read several reviews about this hotel that were a little negative - yes the food is a bit monotonous, they run out of foodstuff and drinks sometimes, but so what..... the hotel could do with a massive upgrade buildingwise, but is so much redeemed itself with the charm, beauty and friendliness of everyone. We paid £565 each for 16 nights all incl. Couldn't have stayed at home for less!!!! We went on the a-le-carte dinner menus in different venues within the hotel twice a week and they were perfect. - for a change from dining room menu's.
We would most definately recomend the dolphin trip. We were a bit doubtful, as we don't like to see marine life in captivity, Gladly the dolphins have a huge area of the sea before the fence - and then they can easily jump that if they want to be free, apparantly they do sometimes but always come back. The dolphins appear to be happy and content and have an amazing relationship with their trainers. It is a must do trip to put on your itinery.
Also we enjoyed a horse and carriage trip, we went for an hour and saw so much. my granddaughter got to drive the horse for all of the trip. The man and his horse were charming.
The Hotel gave impromptu wine and cheese parties, sunset parties and guest leaving parties all on a beautiful spot overlooking the sea - which were amazing.
Cuba has a very nice version of Champagne and the red wine is pretty good too...
We didn't get to go out of the resort much - we would have liked to visit havana, unfortunately there was a tail end of a hurricane that lasted about 5 days that curtailed a few options - but hey ho the bar was still open!!
We are saving up to go back next year, it was an amazing experience. thank you to our lovely maid Anna Iris, Gus at the bar and all the rest of the team. the lovely gardeners who picked coconuts from the trees and chopped them for us to eat and drink, well really thanks to every one. We would definately recommend this hotel. can't wait to go back.
