“my 3rd visit feel disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

was proud to be going to club Amigo. good lively location. The staff are friendly and amazing thus making you feel at home. I am disappointed there has not been any afford in improving the food menu. my recall from the past visit the alcalte menu has never changed and the buffet in boring. o know many of us have provide feed back on the survey but nothing has changed. THe bar drink are the same and you would think being in Cuba they serve you a decent rum.
I have never seen any management in food, bar or any area trying to get feed back. I was impressed with sol as the management was always visiable
the 24 hours resturant is another area that could improve go check out sol the luna maras
i think iys time to chance despite the locotion

Room Tip: best value is the villa section

I went to this place ten years ago with a friend and we had a great time and felt very safe. We enjoyed the food and everything there. The rooms need a little work but we do not spend much time in them so it does not matter in the grand scheme of things. I am going back in 3 weeks with my husband and cannot wait. I find the people so friendly and love being able to walk everywhere.
I have travelled a lot but this is the first time I am returning to a resort for the second time.
People love to complain but this place is clean and the food is good for a 3 star hotel.
I will write again when I get back in January 2014.

If you're from Canada like us then any place that offers sun, sand and stray kittens is going to rate high. Club Amigo Atlantico is a very nice two and a half that tries to be a three star BUT it isn't Varadero. This is the place to go if your looking for great rates, sand, surf and a diet of french fries. Guardalavaca isn't as tourist friendly which can be a plus if you're tired of Havana or Veradero. There is one good restaurant in town - 1870. The resort was once four resorts that they made into one so you have a lot of places to roam and a lot of pools, bars and activities to choose from. Staff are friendly and people with kids and twenty somethings who like to party will love this place. Avoid the hotel 'cause that place never sleeps. The little condos are a favourite for regulars and the rest of the resort rooms are small, shabby and classicly Russian in build and design (not a good thing). But you're not there to sit in your room so what do you care. (TIP: First thing go to the front desk and renegotiate your room price. You can usually finagle it down a couple hundred dollars. I don't know why but regulars swear by it.)

Room Tip: Stay out of the main hotel unless you want to not just be invited to the party but BE the party all...

Food was okay in thuffets. Ala carts where better. Benny moores great for breakfast
Pool bar great bar tenders. Beach was really nice
Market is a must to see and there are different venders every day with lots of different things to see. The jeep safari was a great experience. The entertainment was good. Each night they had something different. The water ballet was the best.
Our stay was for two weeks and we are thinking about going back for a third time. The staff was friendly and by the end some of them bring you what you want before you even ask for it.

Let's face it.. The holiday was cheap so we were not expecting anything spectacular. Rooms were great, clean, whole place was nice enough.. One thing there is a lot of room for improvement is food.. I was expecting an abundance of pineapples and bananas, fresz veg grown localy.. Well, i was wrong. Overall had a great time.

I travelled to Cuba Oct-28- Nov 11/13 Again, this is a 3 star resort
Great value for the money. Don't go there with high expectations and you will have a great time
Standard rooms are very small and very dated, I do not recommend them
the other 3 categories of room are fine. The villa section is by far the best with more amenities
There was a shortage of cristal beer on tap at the hotel, most prefer this beer as opposed to the buchaneero.
Temps were above nornmal for end Oct early Nov, average was 33-34 degrees daytime
Resort only had 400 guests so half resort was closed. Only 1 a la carte open per night and only 2 were open, El Benny and Espada. Espada has the best seafood cream soup.
Buffet is fine, I can see if you were there for 2 weeks that it might get repetitious
I had no problem with the food, If you get tired of hotel food, grab a taxi and go check out one of the paladares around. We tried El Criollo 20 min out of town, had a fabulous meal there followed by being entertained by the chef who came out with his guitar
Don't waste your money on the hotel lobster that's been frozen for months, go check out one of these restaurants and have a nice tender juicy lobster. Worth every penny!
The market bar next to hotel is now open 24 hours, very busy with locals Fridays and Saturdays
This just started nov 1st, beach bars which were closed in evenings for some time now are now open till 930-10. So finally after months with nothing going on locally in evenings Guardalavaca is alive again
No construction has begun yet on the 5 star being built in guardalavaca, just flattened ground waiting for construction to commence. I am in no rush for this hotel to be built as I believe this 5 star is going to cause problems with our local beach which I think will be made into a private beach when this hotel opens. Lets Hope not!
I am looking forward to my next trip there in one week with another group of friends
Safest carribean destination, I love it!
