Description: Café l’Acadie's owner Gary Le Blanc was born into a large Acadian family where both parents hail from the Acadian village of Cheticamp Nova Scotia area and with an enormous extended family, Acadian food, music and culture were the heartbeat of our family life. Our home was the 'gathering place' for friends and relatives. My mother loved to cook and growing up, I could sit for hours and listen to her sing all the old traditional Acadians songs as she scurried about the kitchen cooking. On special occasions, I would watch in amazement at the fiddlers, mandolin and guitar players sitting around the kitchen table, while the rest would sing out loud and strong, Acadian songs of old. With Fricot on the stove, Rappie and Rabbit Pies in the oven and desserts galore, it all fed the soul. Café l’Acadie brings many of these Acadian culinary treasures from my family's kitchen to our dining room to share this rich history of delicious food.

“Great Food and Great Price”

We really enjoyed the food at this little restaurant. Some authentic Acadian Nova Scotia food. Good service, good prices. Will be going back there.

“Good Food At A Great Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

I was staying at the attached motel and stopped at the cafe for an early dinner. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of the items on the menu, the interesting sides that came with the meat pie (which was 100% all meat) and the service. The chairs/tables are old but adequate. Nothing plush but good food. I also ate breakfast there the next day. For $8.95 I had a large omlette with peppers, onion, celery mushrooms and cheese, homemade home fries, two slices of toast and tea or coffee. Much more than I could eat.

“Locals will find the food their grandmother made, and visitors will have a real food culture experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

Highly recommend. Service was prompt and friendly. Three of my companions had versions of the all-day breakfast. I need to go back again and have this! Two of us had the fish cakes, a local speciality, and we loved them. I ordered a bowl of soup, and was pleasantly surprised to be informed that soup was complimentary with the meal! The blueberry buckle was a hit with everyone.

“Finally found a place to eat in Truro!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

For years, we've driven from the airport in Halifax to Cape Breton Island, passing by Truro and finding only highway food stops when we were hoping for something better. At last, we've come on Cafe l'Acadie, a pleasant place with Acadian dishes, seafood, breakfast all day, and -- on Sundays only -- an Acadian dish called rappie pie (which has its own, separate entry on Wikipedia). Don't be put off by the cafe's placement at a motel.

“A Pleasant Find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

We truly enjoyed our dining experience at this restaurant and wished we had found it sooner. A hidden gem for a nice meal of good quality and reasonable pricing. We will be happy to dine here again on our next visit to Truro.
