“Great poolside!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

I was here as a part of a group stay for one week. They provided for us well with nicely presented meals and waiters. The pool was lovely with a few in the group doing morning yoga in the shallow "cliff" on one side. The pool side rooms appeared very nice. Our room was in the old section, and although nicely redone and decorated, we had a few problems with shower leaking, towel rack coming down etc. When brought to staff's attention, problems were addressed if not fully resolved. Overall, a very nice place to stay.

Room Tip: poolside, if within your budget

This hotel has been amazing.. including the new transformations. The staff and the menu are excellent for Santiago, the rooms have been upgraded and the beds are comfy and nice linens.à

This hotel is a must on your way thro to anywhere in Panama.. ask for Ana, the manager. She speaks English and is a wonderful woman for help, suggestions, and info in general.

Room Tip: The older rooms are a bit small, but very clean and well kept. The housekeeping staff is excellent...

Not sure what happened with the folks with the other reviews here, but my room was nice and very, very clean. Immaculate sheets, clean bath, and pretty room with TV and WI-FI. A friend helped negotiate and get the room for $35 a night. Definitely don't accept what they first say is the price and mention you are a "Jubliado" (retired person) to get a discount for that.

I would recommend this place, but maybe check the room quality before paying. The women at the desk were not friendly, but the people in the restaurant were very nice.

Room Tip: They are opening a new section of the hotel soon -- the rooms in the older first floor section may b...

This place was really dirty! And I'm not talking about details like windows or hallways... I'm talking about dirty sheets, dirty pillows and dirty rooms!!! Thank God I always travel with some basic things... Such as ALLERGY PILLS. Sheets were not clean and there was even HAIR all over the bed and pillowsss!!!! I checked in too late so I couldn't go anywhere else. I had to put some pashminas and towels on top of the bed to at least try to sleep!!! This place was awful!

Stopped in late a few nights ago. As per usual here, the staff (maintenance, housekeeping) really don't care to provide one with clean accommodations. This is common for Panama & the excuses are endless in this place. Dirty sheets, dirty shower with busted shower head (they cost $2 here), maid trying to barge in at 8am with no courtesy knock. Hey, here's a novel idea: CHECK to see if the KEYS have been turned in before ruining my privacy!
In addition, there is currently construction going on. An addition to the hotel is apparently being built adjacent to the existing structure. How does this affect your stay? Bang, bang, bang. Clang, clang, clang. Saw, saw, saw. No apologies from staff. They don't care about you at this place so why make them any richer?
Oh, and the motel restaurant was dirty also. The coffee sucked. Huevos rancheros were a joke. The waiter was decent though...
Unless you are confronted with sleeping in the street or in jail, move on..quickly.

Room Tip: In these countries, ALWAYS inspect the room before handing over a dime. I should have but it was mid...

Our stay was actually early 2009 and the reason i am writing this review is because i hope against hope that new owners have taken over. There is nothing Gran about this place. $40 a night, we arrived around 8pm, no one to show us where the room was just a lazy finger pointing in the general direction. Now we werent expecting 300 thread count sheets or the ritz carlton but we also werent expecting other tenants. IE roaches. The room was filthy. The sheets were not clean and thread bare. We should have walked out but we were stuck and on the road, tired and hot. The matress was stained and stunk. The airconditioner was wobbly to say the least and dirty and smelly. The shower...wait for it, Anthony Perkins would have had a ball making Psycho here. The wires in the bathroom for the electricity and the hot water were visible and so close to the shower head that it was frightening. The shower was filthy. Sleep....we didnt, we grabbed our own pillows and some sheets we had in the car and lay them on top of the bed, but we left as soon as we had rested a little as we just couldnt stand the roaches. Now as i said in the beginning, i hope that maybe new owners have taken over this hotel. Ask to see the rooms before you pay. We will never again go back to this hotel and for $40 there are others in the area that are great. To add my partner is Panamanian and we are used to roughing when needed but this was beyond a joke. If management read this by all means contact us and let us know that you have "upgraded" this hotel.
