“French, wild and reasonable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2014

Great food and service. Have been there several times and am never disappointed. The ambiance combined with food selection and wine really works. The service is top shelf.

“PART OF CHELSEA's BEST KEPT SECRETS!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2014

I had friends from Ottawa visiting and decided we would treat them to one of Chelsea's best restaurants... L'ORÉE DU BOIS!

Excellent menu, very classy European feel to the place but not snobby or pretentious at all!
The staff is very pleasant and very knowledgeable of the menu and make explanations simple so that it is an experience each and every time!

I recommend it to anyone be you from the region or just visiting!

“Return Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2014

Haven't been to Loree du Bois for ages so was looking forward to some great French food, and it didn't disappoint. Went with a large group and everyone enjoyed their respective choices. It was quite busy but it did not affect the service; all the wait staff were very friendly and efficient. The seafood soup, braised rabbit and creme brulee were delicious!

“MAGNIFICIENT food in Chelsea!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2014

You can't place l'Oree du Bois in any box or label it within any restaurant category... it's simply magnificent food and the ultimate foodie experience in Chelsea.

The owners, Jean-Claude and his wife, will startle you with phenomenal food and attentive service... but in an ambiance without the snobbish attitude from other 5 star restaurants. They have achieved the delicate balance between sophistication and down-to-earthiness that makes l'Oree du Bois our go-to-place every time we have a chance.

The duck confit with the green and black peppercorn sauce is my favorite... my wife LOVES the seafood meli-melo of pasta. Jean-Claude's amuse-bouche are to DIE FOR, the pan-fried lamb filets are exquisite... you want to go crazy? have the mushroom or duck discovery platter as an appetizer for the table... it's wild!

Jean-Claude's team in the kitchen is masterful... although they all have the talent to improvise (you have to attend the Sunday brunch to get a taste of their creativity) they're not "winging it" in the kitchen... "au contraire mon frere" every staple on the main menu is standardized so you get spot-on execution and the same explosive taste each time you visit.

If you love the private imports of their wine selection... make sure to order some for home...but I won't tell you here the ones we prefer so there's more for Lucie and I ;-)

Finally, for the ultimate foodie experience, make sure to inquire about their cooking classroom events with Jean-Claude and "la brigade"... we did the lobster experience and we will remember the evening for ever!

You WILL enjoy!

“A delightful experience with excellent service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2014

We visited L'Oree du Bois on a Sunday evening in October. Our group of two couples enjoyed the atmosphere and were made to feel welcome by both our waiter and the bus boy. Three of us had an excellent shrimp bisque to start, the other member of our group had a chicken ballentin (?) salad which he enjoyed. Both of the women had lamb filet as their main courses, one of the men had a surf and turf selection of steak and large shrimp, the other had duck confit. All of us found our selections to be very well prepared and presented. Three of us finished with a frozen zabaglione dessert which used maple syrup as the flavouring. It was a very satisfying dinner which left us vowing to return.
