Description: With impressive modern Australian dishes and a spectacular location on Half Moon Bay, near Black Rock, Cerberus Beach House turns the simple pleasure of fish and chips on the beach into something truly special. Good old-fashioned ‘real’ fish and chips are served in the downstairs kiosk while upstairs, patrons can enjoy a smarter, yet still relaxed, dining experience amidst cool blues and whites, warm timber tables and chairs, and breathtaking views of the bay. Built on the finest seasonal ingredients sourced locally wherever possible, Cerberus’ menu is a tantalising mix of modern Australian options and fresh seafood worthy of the magnificent setting.

“Great food, great view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2015 NEW

An evening at the Cerberus is a must for me at least once whenever I visit the family. It's just such an excellent experience with really good and imaginative food served in a relaxed but professional and fun setting overlooking the bay. The family like eating there too as there's a children's menu and the beach down below for a play while the adults enjoy spending time indulging in wonderful desserts or liquor laced coffees... Feel reluctant to recommend the Cerberus as over the years it's getting busier and busier so booking is recommended.

“Fantastic view and delicious food. 5 out of 5 for every thing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2015 NEW via mobile

This is the first time we went there and will certainly come back, we did not book and it was fully booked but the very nice personnel made it possible for us to eat there. Great food, very nice atmosphere, a fantastic view over the sea. Food is interesting, innovative and delicious.
The best view is close to the window, but they are usually booked early. So if you know beforehand that you are going, make an early booking and you will be excited.

“Dinner Overlooking the Sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2015

Last evening we enjoyed a fabulous meal @ Cerberus Beach House with phenomenal views of the gentle white surf below our window.
Our meals of filleted Barramundi & traditional Fish & Chips were superb, having started with a cottage loaf, that was really great & extremely tasty - served with butter, olive oil & chilli oil, which went down a treat with my partner.
Watching the setting sun as the waves rolled in & the Seagulls fought each other for every morsel was amazing.
There is a kiosk downstairs for those wanting Fish & Chips to eat on the foreshore tables or just take away.
Service was friendly & very helpful.
The Restuarant overlooks the scuttled bow of HMVS Cerberus in the distance.
This was a wonderful surprise & is strongly recommended as a great venue with a delightful menu & fabulous food.
We will be back again in the near future to this hidden gem.

“Lunch with a View over the Ocean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2015

I last visited the Cerberus Beach House in January last year when I said the food and service were very good. We came again this January 2015 and enjoyed another wonderful Fish meal, good selection of dishes and excellent Australian Wines to choose from. Once again the service and cuisine were very good and nicely presented at a reasonable price. If you are making reservations make sure you have a table by the open windows overlooking the Ocean. A perfect place for a stopover along the coast.

“Do yourself a favour and visit the Cerberus Boat House!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2015

Tucked away in an alcove, the Cerberus Beach House is one of the better kept Melbourne bayside secrets, in my opinion. My wife and I read about the place in the Urban Flavors of Melbourne book, and made a group booking for 4. The Cerberus Boat House is reminiscent of a Newport Rhode Island eating house, with stunning bay views, and a tranquil atmosphere.

Management offered us a 12.00 or 2.15 pm booking, explaining it helps with the meal planning. I thought this meant if we selected a midday sitting we'd have to be out by 2.15, but that was not the case. We enjoyed a long leisurely lunch, leaving the place at about 3.20.

The restaurant is comparatively small and was packed on the Sunday we visited.

It was a warm day and the facade was opened up to allow the breeze to waft in. We needed this as there is no air conditioning.

The service was good and the food, excellent. The emphasis is on fresh seafood, but there are steaks on the menu. Prices are reasonable. I had seafood linguine and my wife had salmon steak.

My only complaint, and this is not a complaint against the restaurant but against the local council, is that parking is expensive - if you are planning to dine for more than 2 hours the cost is $15. I know that's cheap in the CBD but we are talking about 20 km out of the City.
