“Amazing homemade food, but horrible service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Food is all fresh and home made - excellent quality.
But the service - 2.5 hours for breakfast. Come on! The server seemed completely overwhelmed with only a few tables. Don't visit for a "quick bite".

“Great food (except dessert)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

On Friday the 5th July, we four dined at this old establishment in Buckhorn. I ordered the schnitzel and found it to be fantastic. Wife order halibut and chips. They were very good but not as good as Fancies in Barrie, for sure. The other 2 had liver and onions and roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and both expressed their satisfaction. Coffee was great, service was great but unfortunately, the desserts fell flat. The choices were minimal and they were all pre-package stuff from a local supplier, the type of things out of a vending machine. Huge disappointment especially when they have access to a fantastic little bakery in town which makes pastry to die for. All in all, I recommend this place but suggest you pick up dessert at the local bakery and take it home/cottage with you.

“This little hamlet is a delight and a must see the ice house is a good place to eat”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

A small local older home conversion to a two part restaurant / Bar ... For locals a treat and meet. The food is mediocre but staff is great. The fish and chips are the best bet. And Beer is Beer.

“The best fish!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013 via mobile

Great halibut and chips! Everything is home made. Service is always good and staff are accomodating even when busy! The only complaint is takeout portions seem to be a bit smaller. Its so tasty though. Other family members are quite fond of the beef dip. The best sit down in the area by far.

“The locals know.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

This is the place that the locals go when they don't want to cook at home. All the delicious food is made from scratch including the breakfast jams. The prices are good and the service great. There is a good variety of appetizers and entrees, along with the ever popular hamburgers, and fish and chips.
My personal favourites are the perogies, and the roast beef in a huge Yorkshire. My husband loves their schnitzel. The veggies are always fresh and the staff are very obliging in helping with health issues that center around food.
