“Just Fabulous!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2007

My self and my girlfriends attended a wedding last weekend and we can only describe it as Fabulous!! I was weary i must say on the previous reviews and it did somewhat make us weary of our stay...... I can honestly say that the hotel took us by complete surprise, friendly staff, great food and lovely comfortable rooms. After a long day and night it was great to have the leisure centre pool to get rid of the really bad hangovers!!!

My personal marks out of 10 would be a whopping 9/10 for Staff, Food, Drink and the Craic!!

We definately will be back for a good girly weekend away, bring on the Beauty Salon Massages!!!

We stayed for one night and had a very pleasent experience. We wondered if some of the other people who reviewed this hotel had stayed in the same hotel as us? All new hotels have teething problems until firm standards are established, and new staff find their feet and "gel" with a new regime which can take time. The opinions offered here by us are a general overview of our own personal experience.
We were greeted on arrival by a smiling competent girl who chatted freely to us as she processed our reservation, she apologised that the restaurant was busy that night but promised to get us in to the restaurant if the bar food menu didn't suit.
The hotel is bright and modern but without the minimalist atmosphere which is prevalent in most of the new Irish hotels popping up all over the country. The bedroom was huge, beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated, I would have liked a kingsize bed though! as my husband snores like a train......The bathroom was spotless with a selection of quality toileteries. We had dinner in the bar, it was very very good, on the downside service was a bit slow, which didn't bother us at all as we like to "chill" and eat at our leisure with a good bottle of vino to savour!
Breakfast was very enjoyable a good selection of everything including excellent croissants! the cooked breakfast was served from a small service area which was under pressure tthat morning to cope with a "full house" .
Would be stay again? absolutely, we will return as soon as we can manage it.

  • Liked — Bright and modern, spacious with all the facilites one would expect in a top hotel

we stayed there for two noghts in april and loved the place.
the hotel is new ,modern, and yet is very irish in nature and not like some of the clinical group hotels you see around the place

the food was outstanding ! i have never tasted such good Irish food and obviously is a step above your very average restaurant food available in the area.

the leisure centre is lovely and is a great place to relax

the service throughout our stay was warm and friendly and we were made to feel very welcom

if we are in the area again we will be back

Stayed here for the weekend with my husband, decided to go for our 5th wedding anniversary for a weekend away,we walked in the door and were impressed with the inside of the hotel, the outside leaves alot to be desired though, looks more like a community centre or College, while the inside surroundings were pleasent we cannot say the same for the staff, particulary one Girl on reception, she treated us like Dirt once she knew we were paying with cash, now we were dressed up and look very respectable,im a business woman and take pride in my appearance,.business suit etc...I have to....otherwise I would not have a sucessful company for the last 6years ,....I have credit cards but choose not to use them which I do believe is my choice,We were treated like inferior people, we were hassled in our room, accused of breaking appliances even though they did not work from the beginning, even in the morning we were accused of having extra people in the room,(strange considering we had already explained at reception we were here for a romantic weekend!!, )that really was the last straw, menu in restaurant was the strangest ever, however the saff there were nice(I do believe the pleasent staff should be on reception not ones that act like generals in an army)Our breakfast order was completly wrong in the morning and did not include basics like milk butter etc, when we rang reception we were treated with the same frosty reception and had to wait over half an hour for them to be delivered and after all that we got a call to ask us why were we were not checked out yet!!! It wasnt even 12 O'clock!!I will never go and stay again, would recommend people not to stay there,I am sorry I wasted my money at all,There is so much room for improvement, the staff believe they are working in a fancy hotel, they dont seem to realise yet that it is there personalities that are remembered not the piano in the reception.....Good things to say about this hotel, rooms were nice and clean,Massage in the spa was good and the bar staff were nice, other than that nothing, Will not ever go there again

Have stayed at the Mcwilliam Park hotel in Claremorris on 2 occasions as i am a regular visitor to this area in the west of Ireland. The hotel is of a high standard, lovely spacious bedrooms and pleasant relaxing bar areas. The staff particularly at reception are exceptionally helpful and accomodating. My one complaint is about the restaurant, it is just really clinical and totally lacking ambience. The overly ambitious menu has the most bizarre combinations of ingredients that have been thrown together and basically dont work .Gordon Ramsey would sort things out here, locally sourced good quality produce is what is required. The times I have stayed people have been dining from the bar menu .,standard bar food but edibleThe meals i have had in the restaurant have been the worst food I have ever eaten in Ireland .
