“Fantastic hotel with brilliant staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

Even though my stay here was only a short one. I very much enjoyed it! The room was lovely and that bathroom had the individual shampoo/conditioner etc. a pet hate of mine is those pump ones stuck to the wall. The doors in the business class area did slam and as I'm a light sleep this was annoying but I gave this hotel such a good rating because of the excellent quality service in the restaurant, the bar, the gym and the front reception. It was great value for money and definitely felt like the four stars that it truly deserves.
I must also add that the breakfast selection in the morning would beat any five star hotels I have been to. There was anything you could imagine and plenty of it! I asked for something not on the breakfast menu and got it no problem and even service with a smile. There is a lot to be said about good friendly and mannerly staff and this hotel has that in spades.
I would both recommend it and would stay again!

Room Tip: I stayed in the business class area and if you do try to get the rooms at the end of the corridor if...

We stayed at the McWilliam Park Hotel for two nights this week.

From the moment we arrived we were looked after tremendously by all of the staff at the hotel, however special thanks have to go to David, and to Mary on reception.

Nothing was too much trouble, the food was beautiful, the room was spacious and clean with ample tea/coffee and other accessories.

The leisure facilities were very good, as was the WiFi & parking facilities.

We will be returning to the hotel early next year with our family and are looking forward to it already!

Room Tip: we stayed in Business class and it was excellent!!!

Just had a lovely weekend in the McWilliams. Good food, great staff, great value. Staff are very attentive. Restaurant meal was good as was breakfast. Spa was good but not great. Bar was good and the Guinness was great.

I hate writing a bad review for an Irish hotel, however it pains me to say that the McWilliam should try harder....After reading all the replies from the Operations Manager it seems like the chef / breakfast staff either do not heard what he is saying or his communication is not clear....The breakfast is not great...microwaved scrambled egg. I ordered breakfast in my room from 8am to 8.30am however it came at 8.55am when I was leaving for a meeting....There is very little option for a veggie....no hash brown, beans, mushrooms....it seems veggies are not catered for with room service...when breakfast did come....there was no milk in the jug so I just left it and got breakfast in Arabica cafe in Market Square which was excellent....It all seems very sedate and so so laid back....prompt service is not what you will get...but you will get a nice person so its very hard to complain.....Sign posting at night driving from Dublin is bad...you get to the town and there is no sign until you turn right and come up the main street....at the church you then see a small sign to turn right....the hotel is tucked away up the road from Aldi...which is where I went to stock up on food and snacks.....as room service boring if you are staying more than a day...

Room Tip: Business class rooms are nice and big so plenty of room

I just had reason to stay in the McWilliam, mid-week for business. And was impressed, to say the least.
Rates were good (€65 Single B&B) , Not a spectacular place to look at from the outside, bit of a Celtic Tiger Offspring me thinks, but don’t be deceived. This place has a really nice interior, very friendly staff and very comfortable rooms with all the usual conveniences, TV, DVD, Shower, Bath, Free WiFi, Coffee/Tea.
It also has a great (and squeaky clean) Pool, Sauna & Steam Rooms, Jacuzzi and kiddies play pool.
The food served at the bar was good and reasonably priced. The restaurant menu looked and smelled great, but I was too busy to avail or it.
All in all, a really nice hotel, close enough walk to centre of town, maybe 1.5 -2 Klm. And I think would make great base for a few days discovering Mayo and the Wesht ..
I was impressed and that’s not an easy thing to do …

Room Tip: Dont Know if it makes much of a difference, but the "business class" rooms (mine at leats...

Staff in this hotel are absolutely lovely. The rooms are clean and large. However, make sure you get a room well away from the large noisy industrial fan that stays on until quite late and switches back on again at 6.00am. The food in the carvery was not worth the money at all. The breakfast (cooked) was so bad - the sausages were re-heated - just all in all the food was not at all what we expected. I would not stay there again - the only saving grace was the staff !

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the industrial fan!

I had the pleasure of staying at the McWilliam this past summer for a week to meet family in the area. I left extremely happy thanks to quick and great services provided by the warm and friendly staff. This included being greeted by Christina who was always helpful as well as meeting managers like Stephanie who made sure every need was sorted. Those who enjoy room service will appreciate fast service and staff that clean rooms perfectly with plenty of clean towels left to use!

An even greater bonus is the bar and restaurant. You won't find it difficult to grab a pint of whatever your preference is and the staff is quick and always at service with a smile. Thomas, Stephanie and Josephine amongst a bunch of other staff consistently served my family and never disappointed as we were greeted warmly with great recommendations for drinks and food.

If you want a lovely retreat with all of the right accommodations and perfect staff, the McWilliam will definitely suit your needs. I hope to see everyone there again sometime in the future!
