“highlight of my weekend!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

A friend and I stayed in Claremorris over the weekend and I must say , that i cannot fault the friendly and helpful service of the Commons' Clay Cafe staff. The food was beautifully presented and tasted equally as good. We painted two mugs which were reasonably priced at €14. We spent a very relaxing day painting and chatting in a relaxed atmosphere where everyone was comfortable. Premises was immaculate! Thoroughlly enjoyed our day and would reccomend it to anyone!

“overpriced.......... such a pity !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

visited clay cafe thought it might be a nice enjoyable afternoon with the kids. had been there years ago and food was lovely and pottery was reasonably priced. the place must be under new management.............

firstly i must say i found the young staff that i encountered very nice. however, the owner/manager had little interest in the place and sat eating or reading the paper most of the time. the pottery is very overpriced, many of the figureens range from prices of 22e up to 35e. then to add insult we were offered only four colours to paint with, with a sign advising that we'd be charged for more paints !!!!!!!!!! if i hadn't promised my kids the experience i would have walked out.

the food is ok, big portions and reasonably priced. my biggest bugbear was the lack of housekeeping in the painting room. the table clothes were sticky, the floor was dirty and the toys for younger children were visibly dirty.

its such a pity. it should have been a lovely afternoon but i felt that we were being ripped off.
1 lunch, a coffee, one small figureen................. 36euro........

I had a great time in the clay cafe when I went with my friends in october. We had a fab time painting the pottery with our own designs. The things we made were useful too. we made plates and mugs and theyre great!!!! the food was delicious, and our favourite was the gougons. well priced I'd give the clay cafe a 10/10

“Great for breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2011 via mobile

This place has loads of free parking, affordable and has good quality food. Kids like it as they can paint pottery while they eat. Baby changing facilities and high chairs. Make lovely breakfast.

“Regal Feast.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2011

Went yesterday for a late lunch. 2 of us had the homemade lasagne. Filling , tasty and delicious. Served with chunky homemade chips like mothers make. Crispy abundant salad accompanied the dishes. One of us had tuna melt on Crispy Ciabbatta which I was told was heavenly.
Finished off with tea and chocolate brownies and coffee and walnut cake. MMMMM.. Lovely
You can paint your own pottery and leave it for glazing and collect another day so a lovely way to while away an afternoon. i have a lovely plate to show from another time. lovely food. Great service. Spotless facilities . Warm and cosy.
