“Meal deal left us dying for some vegetables”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We had lunch with a voucher and no complaints about the quality of the three course meal. We were just left craving vegetables after consuming a tender lamb shoulder between two with a 1/4 of a lettuce as the only accompanying vegetable. Booking person was very accommodating and we loved being out on the terrace on a beautiful autumn day but service was abit patchy and we had to remind staff about the wine we ordered when it didn't arrive. The cheese plate was also very slow in arriving despite a couple of reminders. We did enjoy sitting outdoors though which made up for the slow service.

Dear PechFoodLover,

Thanks for your feedback, it is important to us to keep on improving our offering.

The 1/4 iceberg lettuce with grapefruit vinegarette and shaved sheep's milk cheese as the side dish is our summer accompaniment for the succulent Lamb Should meal. The idea is that it is fresh and light and to compliment the Lamb Shoulder in the warmers months as the meat component is a very substantial and rich dish. We are changing this side shortly to a autumn/winter vegetable for the coming months.

We apologise for the lack of prompt delivery of your wine. On weekends it can be very busy but there is no excuse for your wine not arriving promptly. We will discuss these procedures with our service staff.

Thanks again for the feedback we look forward to welcoming you again.

“Flint Lives!..just a little slower”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

We loved Flint restaurant in Canberra and had previously been to an outdoor film night in the Shaw vineyards (a great experience even in the light rain!). This is not the same gourmet experience as the old Flint's, less trendy and simpler food. We spent 30 minutes at the wine bar before entering the restaurant - a pleasant experience. The staff were helpful and relaxed. Given the day we asked to be seated outside. A fantastic setting. We were soon joined by a large group with young families and questioned our decision until we heard the roar from inside the restaurant. People enjoy eating here! Not a bad recommendation. There were some interesting options including a mushroom and goat cheese tart which was terrific. My rabbit, so easy to cook dry, was superb as was the very fresh tasting chilli squid. Course sizes were generous and the cooking was very competent. A very enjoyable lunch and an excellent venue for a languid weekend lunch.

Dear Bruce M,

thanks so much for your review on Trip Advisor. We appreciate the feedback as it assists us to understand how our customers are enjoying their dining experience at our relaxed vineyard restaurant and to make changes if needed.

We love our setting at Shaw Vineyard and it caters to all months of the year. The terrace is a lovely choice on a summer's day with a nice breeze overlooking the property.

Thanks for the feedback on the food, especially the rabbit, that is a new addition to our entrees and our customers have been receiving it very well.

Look forward to the next time you visit us for a languid lunch, away from the bustle of the city.

“Deliciously tasty food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

OK so the portions are very small and the prices are high but WOW the food is a culinery delight and worth saving up for... the enviroment is very classy, homey in winter with an open fire and cool in summer with either airconditioning inside or lovely breezes on the verandah. This is also a winery but I am no wine conniesseur. So back to the food... absolutely yummy and you want to savour every single bite.I just wish there was more to bit LOL. The service is also a delight as every diner is made to feel special. Manager Jai seems to remember every return visitor and makes you feel welcome every time.

“Good food in a vineyard, near Canberra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Flint's isthe name of the restaurant at the Shaw Estate Vineyard on the outskirts of a small town called Murrumbateman, about 40 minutes drive from Canberra.
Three of us had lunch at this very popular restaurant today, Sunday February 22, 2013.
They were heavily booked -- so the available times were 12.00noon (on the dot !) or 2.30pm. We chose 12.00noon.
We were not disappointed. We skipped the Entrees ("Starters" in American idiom), and went straight to the Main Courses. The dishes we chose were the Dukkah crusted Chicken; the grilled Barramundi (a northern Australian fish); and an excellent Sirloin Steak. This was teamed with two Shaw Estate wines, a Riesling and a Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.
Followed up with delicious coffee.
Ambience was good. Staff were good and service was efficient and friendly. Cost was reasonable at approx AUD$135 (about USD$130) in total (and no tip required or expected).
In summary, great place for a quiet Sunday lunch in the Country.
