“Staying at Waoku Lodge is living the good life in Raglan New Zealand"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2009

My wife and I just spent three wonderful nights at Waoku lodge where Rob and Sharon run a first rate operation. The views and atmosphere at Waoku and the close proximity to world-class surfing make this an excellent choice for couples looking for luxery accomodations while in the Raglan area. After surfing the amazing waves and sampling the lovely town, it was worth ever penny to rest up during the midday sun and spend very peaceful nights at Waoku.

What a fantastic spot, great views of the west coast and five minutes from Raglan's surf spots. Paired with true hospitality and attention to detail the Lodge's are fantastic.

These lodges are a perfect romantic getaway. Can't recommend it enough.

My husband and I stayed at Waoku Lodge over new year 2008/2009.

The accommodation is beautiful with lovely views, and more than enough space for the 2 of us. We had some friends (another couple and their baby) join us for a few days and there was still plenty of space for all of us. The finishes in the lodges are amazing, the bathroom beautiful, the kitchen lovely and easy to use - with a great view, and the decks, perfect for a cold beer and relaxing.

However, the absolutely standout at Waoku is the food and the amazing hospitality of the owners. The food is probaby the best I have eaten, I my husband and I have travelled extensively. It is 5 star restaurant quality and very reasonable prices.

The owners cannot do enough to make you feel welcome and are very discreet so you enjoy your privacy but they are only a minute away if you need them.

We will without a doubt return.

After spending a weekend at Waoku Lodge, my partner and I were delighted by the entire experience; we thought it deserved a review:

The Lodge is set in such a way to incorporate the peace and tranquillity of the native bush, yet capture the picturesque views of Manu Bay.
What we liked most about the lodge was the fact you could soak up the tranquillity of the place or be as active/ adventurous as you liked, with the activities they offered (surfing lessons, kayaking etc.).
Rob & Sharon were such great hosts, offering to help in any which way. We opted not to do any activities, however they were more than happy to arrange these for us.
The food was magnificent and presented in such a beautiful manner.
We spent the Saturday evening sipping wine in our own private spa overlooking the water, which was just breath taking!
I did not have a massage, however we heard they were excellent by another guest; I will definitely do this next time.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and didn’t want it to end! We believe this has been the best lodge/retreat we have stayed in throughout New Zealand. The added extras (little chocolates, greeting card & necklace etc) make the stay that much more enjoyable. We will definitely be back!!!

We were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary - and we certainly found it. The room was beautifully appointed and decorated. The in room dining was awesome - fantastic selection and quality. We would recommend the Lodge to anyone wanting to enjoy a luxury hideaway out of the rat race.
