booked through hotel.com for a one night stay on sunday just before christmas. we were greeted by our host who was very friendly and showed us to our room. its was a good sized, warm room with our own bathroom. we had an evening meal which was very good and then retired to watch a bit of tv in the room. it was a peaceful night. breakfast was very tasty and well cooked. i would definitely return. great value for money.

I came in one Sunday night for quiet meal with some friends. Despit the food being average, the waitress and bar staff were outstanding, could not have been more friendly or helpfull. I tried to give the waitress a tip for herself, but was told they had a sharing policy, and insisted it went in a pot behind the bar, and the money had to be shared equally between all staff, I feel this policy should be redrafted, to give the waitress on duty the reward for her hard work.

Stopped here for two nights in November 2012. The staff are very friendly and professional, and given the price this pub rates as excellent value for money. It's in a good location, within easy reach of Lindisfarne and the beautiful Northumbrian coast. Ate dinner here on both nights and the food is superb.
The only downside is that the bathroom could have done with a makeover, it looked a little tired.
I will definitely make this my destination for any future trips in this area.

Staff are all very friendly and attentive, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The food both evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Plenty of towels and tea and coffee in the room, bed was really comfortable and we both slept like logs.
Good base for exploring this part of Northumberland - Ford, Etal and Heatherslaw Mill all just a few minutes drive away and also not very far from Holy Island.
We will definately go back again next year

Our room, the family room, was huge. Kingsize bed plus three single beds, plenty of space just for the two of us. Good size bathroom with very good shower. The food at the Black Bull is superb. The evening menu had plenty of choice enough to have a different starter and main course each for the four nights we stayed. The breakfast was marvellous. Ordered the night before again the choice was amazing and beautifully presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly have no hesitation in recommending the Black Bull but certainly returning some day.

Room Tip: Room 3 is the Family Room and a fantastic size.

Annie and I decided to spend a few days in a part of the country that we had not been to before. So after finding most places fully booked, there was just a couple of rooms left if we were quick !
I looked up previous reviews on tripadvisor and they seemed quite favourable with just a few negative comments. Well, where do I begin ? From the moment we arrived, we were greated as if we were royalty and made to feel extremely welcome. Our room, number 4, was upstairs and along a slightly sloping floor which added to the quaint atmosphere of the place. The room itself was very comfortable and the bed was kingsize which, along with the traditional bedroom furniture that one would expect, added to the overall comfort. The meals were top notch. We had the "Black Bull" english breakfast which took some time to eat as it included everything, even white pudding (which I had never heard of before). In the evening we always ate in the restaurant and chose from a varied menu. I think we must have tried most dishes and can say that, without exception, everyone was delicious. The music in the background, a mixture of Caruso to Simon & Garfunkel, was pleasantly unobtrusive and added well to the classy atmosphere. The bar was worthy of its cosy appeal with its real ale (Farne Island) and little nooks and crannies to while away the minutes until summoned that our meal was ready in the restaurant. As for price, this was one of the cheapest B & Bs that I had viewed and to be honest I didn't expect the place to be such good value for money.
So in summing up, would I recommend fellow travellers to stay at the Black Bull in Lowick ? Damn right I would as we would definitely come back again if we should return to this part of the country again.

Room Tip: I'm sure they are equally all of good quality.
