“Oh Yum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2011

This small and bustling little cafe is deceiving. There are only a few tables but sitting at the bar is very comfortable. The food is fabulous tapas style turkish!! It is a little expensive (one you add up all the little dishes) but worth the price tag. Hummus to die for, flat green beans amazing, burek that melts in your mouth. Not a place to sit an linger but a very cruisy, quick bite. Great wine list. The only small criticism is the service could be more attentive.

“Friendly and delicious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2011

We went mid-week, it was busy so we sat at the bar, a fast efficient, friendly service, we had about eight tasting plates which were all good, especially the prawn, fasulye and eggplant. The cutlets were a bit dry, but tasted good. The atmosphere is warm with good lighting. You could almost miss it if you walked past, but it's definitely a jewel in the crown of Smith Street. We will go back.

“Probably the best dining experience in OZ so far”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2011

We arrived at about ten to ten to be told we'd have to order quick as the kitchen would be closing soon. I do find it strange that a world city like Melbourne has so many restaurants that close so early. We decided to let the kitchen decide what we ate though and we were so glad we did. Since arriving from London 9 months ago I have had many dining experiences, both pricey and cheaper eats. Gigibaba, though quite pricey proved to be the most outstanding food I've had in Melbourne. Absolutely delicious. Each of us round the table were taken aback by the flavours, the quality and presentation. The ribs were to die for, whatever the chef marinated them in was sublime and the way the meat fell from the bone, well it was a magnificent culinary experience that has yet to be bettered.11/10 for service as well. Absolutely wonderful and wholeheartedly recommended.

“marvellous food and fabulous sommelier!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2011

although the food was a little pricey ... it was well worth it!! from the oysters to the baba ganoush (with endless supply of bread!) to the yummy wine matched perfectly by Paul! Well worth a visit when in Melbourne and easy access from trams!

“Music for your mouth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2011

One of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. Every dish we ordered was so delicious, I couldn't make a decision as to which I most preferred - perfect combinations of flavours! DO try the pomegranate and cauliflower salad and the bean salad as part of your selection of dishes, though. As to the price, it may be a little more than the average in Melbourne, but being from Perth, it was refreshing to actually be paying for excellence rather than the mediocrity dished up for similar prices in many places here.
