“A wonderful find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2009

We had the great pleasure of staying with Eric and Urslem in September. Much has been said about Gallipoli Houses and we can only but agree. Our room was impeccibably clean and very attractive. The food was superb and Eric's knowledge was amazing. We found the whole experience of Gallipoli very moving. Going in September was a good move as there were not the crowds that would be there earlier in the year. We were able to see Lone Pine one day with no one there. We can recommend the walks which allows you in a small way to see just how hard it was for those soldiers to fight.

We must also thank Eric and Urslem so much for suggesting an onward itinerary and also for all their help in hiring a car - it was the best thing we did and we had a great time because of it.

“What a fantastic place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2009

We stayed at Gallipoli Houses for 4 nights during October half-term with our 2 children and Father (in-law). It is such a wonderful place and Eric is a brilliant host. He is incredibly knowledgable about the battlefields and helped us plan our itinerary each day (including a stop at the beach for the children). The rest of the staff were great too and the cooking was wonderful. This place is a credit to Eric and his family and if you only stay in one place in the area you should make sure it's Gallipoli Houses.

“An ideal base for exploring the peninsular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2009

Gallipoli Houses are situated in the village of Kocadere. It is well signposted from the main road running from Eceabit to Gabatepe and I had no difficulty at all in finding it.
My bedroom was of an adequate size, simple but comfortable, and had a patio with a pleasant view of part of the village and countryside. The bathroom facilities worked well. No TV or telephone (this is not a complaint!)
The dining room was attractively furnished in a rustic style. It was very pleasant to sit on the rooftop at sunset with a cold beverage after a strenuous day of walking. The food was superb, an excellant introduction to Turkish cuisine.

The Gallipoli peninsular is a beautiful place with its rugged hills and beaches but virtually all the visitors here are on pilgrimage to the battlefields. The host, Eric, has read extensively on the subject and is extremely helpful. He even printed out sheets from Google earth for me to match up with a trench map from 1915 to identify the place where my great-uncle was shot.
Gallipoli Houses contributed a great deal to the enjoyment of my visit to the peninsular.

“Wonderful place to stay in Çanakkale”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2009

Very different experience to visit the battle fields and feel the souls of thousands of soldiers. After a big day it was wonderful to go back to Gallipoli houses. Comfortable room, delicious food, relaxing atmosphere, very helpful information about the area. If you have found here never look for another place to stay!

“Great place to see the Gallipoli area from”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2009

Spent 3 nights here and loved it all. Wonderful service, Ozlem gave us 4 course gourmet food and Eric took us around to out of the way places. We had Ereic the owner organise what he thought we needed and it was perfect. Did a half day tour with Wilusa to gert oriented and then Eric took us north to Suvla bay to go nto Left Hook area. Then we walked upo the gullies into places like Plugges and then took the access road to Lone PIne. Next day went to Helles and then did the NZ track down from Chunk Beir.
If comomg to see the war sites saty here as Eric isa history buff, knowa the area and the accommoation is just proper. Highly recommended
