“No complaining”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Bungalows were very nice and the Shanti Village is located on the most peaceful part of the beach. However the price was little bit high compared to the neighbouring Resorts.

No services, no wifi, but good for someone who just wants to be left completely alone and is not traveling on budget

This is a new place and they are planting new trees at the site, so it might be much better in few years!

Stayed at Shanti Village for five days in March. We paid 2000 INR a night, which seemed fair price. The huts were very clean and neat, just there were no services. Luckily neighbouring Green Village had good food and Tina Beach Resort had free wifi, where we ended up staying five more days.

Recommended place for conscious consumer. Huts are excellent and I would've given more stars if there had been services onsite.

These huts are right down the other (southern) end of the beach about a mile from the main Shanti Villas also owned by Bobby. It is a very quiet location indeed. The Green Valley restaurant next door was very friendly and served great breakfasts; we used their loungers on the beach all the time. We paid 3000 rupees for a hut right at the front overlooking the fantastic beach and 2500 rupees for a hut behind (which also had a sea view but wasn't quite so close to the actual beach). The verandas were lovely and there was a handy tap at the bottom of the steps to wash your feet. The main rooms and bathroom were spacious but basic as we imagine all huts are. The beds were very comfortable. There were brand new mosquito nets, though there were very few mosquitos evident except just after dusk. We stayed five nights mid-January and loved it. While we were there Bobby planted a lot more small trees. We had a beautiful lizard in the bathroom one day and a large cockroach in the bedroom once, but this is to be expected in a beach hut that has so many openings to the elements. (We would have liked a secure cover for the side-window for peace of mind and because it got quite cold - though there were no signs of trouble or potential intruders). The woman who was on site most of the day was extremely friendly and helpful, providing extra blankets after our first night, doing washing efficiently for a small charge and organising our taxi to the airport. We ate in Bobby's restaurant one night and he cooked a wonderful sea-bass. Cuba restaurant nearby was excellent too. We would definitely return - we stayed longer than we had planned.

Room Tip: If you want quiet rooms, this is the place to be.

I am sure that later in the season Shanti Village will be good, but we were charged 4000 INR a night for something that wasn't at all ready - for example no mosquito net and when we asked for one it was just left not put up for us. It didn't ruin our enjoyment of Agonda beach at all - what on earth could of such a wonderful relaxing, beautiful place - but having paid 50% deposit we stayed for what we paid but moved on as soon as we could to Green Valley next door where for only 1000 INR we had all the facilities that should have been available at Shanti Village. Don't get me wrong - when finished for the high season (Xmas and New year) these will be wonderful and Bobby is lovely but for our trip (mid-November) a big disappointment.

Room Tip: I wouldn't go there until Xmas or after - and if you're looking for luxury go elsewhere on A...
