“Could be better maintained and service should be improved”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

We stayed in Agonda Paradise in March 2012. In my previous visits to Goa, I had visited most of the beaches of north and south goa and found Agonda as the best. I found those colorful beach huts fascinating from outside and after reading the rave reviews booked the same for our next visit with family. However, my experience was not so good!
The only advantage I found here was that it was dot on the beach and on the quiter side of the beach. We were a group of 8, 2 aged couple and 2 young couple. We wanted 4 beach front huts and were given 2 even though we booked well in advance and huts were available. We were told that they can give us those huts only if no foreigner wants those during our stay as they pay higher price. On our arrival, we were given 2 beach front huts and 2 backside huts with partial sea view which means glimpse of the water from behind coconut trees and the front huts.
Our main intention for staying on the beachhuts were to enjoy the sea at the fullest. We thought that the parents could enjoy the view from the room while we enjoy a swim in the sea. The view, even from the beach front huts was not great as one can not see the waves touching the shore as it it guarded by the high slope of the beach and soon we found that the area near the hut is not a safe zone. Sea was rough here, could be because of the proximity to the hills, and the sand harsh. Had to walk around a KM to find a better place to enjoy our bath.
We did not expect plush bathrooms but it was pretty bad in the partial sea view huts. A very basic one with broken toilet seat, part of the floor covered with plastics. Those in the beach front huts were marginally better.
The door of one of the beach front huts were not getting closed at all and on complaining, we were told that the place is very safe and we need not bother about locks. I must agree that locking the door does not matter as one can get in throug the open window also. Was a bit of shocker for the parents but we made them understand that it's perfectly safe and that's how all huts are.
Next let down was the service, we were not given towels even after repeated request. Everyone was telling to ask someone else. We received prompt service only from one guy, probably his name was lovely. But he was the only guy attending everywhere and everyone, so he could not do much.
While returning to the huts in night, there was not even a single light on the premises. We navigated with the help of our cell phones and on entering our hut, found few lizards on the roof and on the wall. Same was the case in my friend's hut. We stayed for the night and checked out the next morning.
I would not recommend the beach huts if you are travelling with family, concerned with safety and want to stay in a clean room. On Agonda beach, stay on the south part of the beach if you want to enjoy the sea.

Earlier 02 times I stayed in hotels in North Goa, but this time it was an awesome encounter with South Goa. First time in Goa with my lovely wife and staying in Agonda paradise huts (Suggested by some Tripadvisor friends) made our trip the best - a Second Honeymoon indeed !!!!

Agonda Paradise, the huts where we stayed, is not be forgotten. The beautiful and colorful beach huts are an eye catching attraction. Living on the beach in this hut was like a wild dream come true where you go to sleep hearing the sea and wake up feeling the sea!!!!!!! The food in Agonda Paradise was as good as the beach, you get to eat fresh fish from the sea with a chilled bottle of your favourite beer (and many more !) on the beach!!! The very helpful and co-operative staffs, the basic but clean huts.. all were good. Thanks to all of my friends on Tripadvisor for suggesting this beach huts to me, it was like staying in "A paradise on the beach" !!!!

Room Tip: Although the Beach-front huts are Hot as compare to huts behind, but try front huts, as from there y...

Agonda Paradise bungalows are at the North end of the beach and therefore are much more peaceful. especially when we were there in November. As all along the beach you could hear the sound of hammering and power saws, whilst the other companies erected their huts.

To reach them requires your transport to turn right at the T junction near to the church and to continue along the rough dirt road, after the tarmac runs out. They did have a sign, but it was on the floor when we stayed.

We had the yellow beach front hut and loved the place so much we extended our 3 nights to 9!! We thought it the best of the 3 true beachfront huts as it is slightly set back from the other two and is very private, as the other 2 huts screen it from the restaurant.

The huts are roomy and clean, but bear in mind that all the hut accommodation on Agonda Beach is taken down and removed at the end of April and then re erected again in November. So therefore they tend to be very basic and spartan.

Our hut had a ceiling fan, a large comfy bed with a quality mosquito net plus a large side table. There is a rectangular open cupboard for some storage and the floor is black tiled. The bathroom runs the full length of the hut and again was clean, with a simple cold water shower, WC and hand basin. There was also a large bucket and scoop, which could be filled from the tap below the shower. We found this useful for rinsing our feet, so as not to trek sand into the hut.

Cold water - well not really, as it is stored in a large black tank and gets heated by the sun. not solar, but not cold to make you shiver. It was quite refreshing as the huts got quite hot during the day in November. However they did cool down at night and we were grateful for the blanket provided. The rooms will be cleaned if you are around when the cleaners are. If not just ask - we did and had our room linen and towels changed every 3 days.

I almost forgot - there is a verandah out front with two chairs and it provides welome shade for most of the day. We would sit and watch the world go by and at night we were treated to some wonderful sunsets.

The restaurant was good for a lazy breakfast and at night they did do a fantastic Prawns Chili Fry. But to be honest we found the staff (whilst very friendly) not quite as attentive as most of the other places and consequently generally ate elsewhere in the evening. It was also great to laze in the sun and watch the dolphins swim in the bay (and we saw them most days), whilst sipping a chilled Kingfisher, which at Rp70 was one of the cheapest on Agonda Beach.

We rented a scooter for 200Rp/day from Satheesh (I think it was his own) and travelled up as far as Cabo de Rama and stopped off Cola Beach on the way back (great restaurant here and beautiful beach - difficult to find - so ask). The next day we went to Palolem (and hated it). The tip on both days is to wander of track and go down some side roads and experience the local life. They were very happy to see us and all wanted their photos taken.

So if you've read this far then the only problem you now have is - are there rooms available and how long can I stay. trust me, you will not want to leave.

Agonda Paradise beach huts are set on this wonderful piece of sand n sea called Agonda. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in South-Goa starting with the narrow road with shops on both sides.

The beach is a couple of KMs long lined with generous swathes of coconut groves and many shacks; which mainly caters to foreigners. The waters are calm and the sea is flat for distances upto 30-40ft to depths of 6ft only. The waves were relatively gentle all day and even the most amateur swimmers can take a short lap.

The property is located on the northern side of the beach which is the quieter end. Take a right turn at the church and its about 500m. Walk in to find the rear sides of the hut and walk further to find the beautiful sea reveal past the coconut grove and more huts. Vyom (on stillts), Earth and Sachi are the best huts of the lot as they offer the best views of the sea.

The hut itself was spartan but was reasonably sized suitable for a couple. The bathroom too was basic but was functional and clean. They had provided twomosquito nets, which we didn't have to use. The staff primarily consisted of - Malcolm & Satheesh; who were extremely courteous and helpful with a lot of advice. They are the two stalwarts who keep the great service going. Jayesh is the resourceful one and is a manager in the making. Together they make a great team. Shan seems to be senior management and I spoke to him initially about the reservations and transferred the advance online to him. As we needed 3 huts for around 4 nights we got a decent rate of 2300/- per hut.

Agonda Paradise serves excellant juices however the lunch/dinner menu could be much better. So we ended up eating at other places. The Agonda WhiteSands is good option for meals/cocktails; their ambience is a bit more cozy amongst the garden and their cocktails are great.

Palolem which is around 10kms is probably the most commercial beaches in South Goa. It offers rows n rows of shops and you might strike a good bargain if you go with time in hand. Cafe del Mar at Palolem serves good food and cocktails and I assume that overall Palolem might have better night life with most shacks playing music.A good option if folks want to switch for a bustling evening from the trance like calmness that is Agonda.

A great choice, esp if you want some quite time even in the Xmas/NY season.

Room Tip: Choose Vyom or Earth for the best sea views

Stayed here for a week. Huts are a good size, clean and well spaced. Stayed in one of the hults on stilts (1500 rupees) which are the most expensive but I think well worth it as had great view from balcony. Situated at the quiet south end of the beach which I think is the best location in Agonda. Food in restaurant was good and all staff friendly. Will definitely recommend and return.

Agonda Paradise is cute collection of pastel coloured beach huts at the quieter North end of Agonda beach (about a 10 min walk from the church). The North end of the beach is a lot less busy and is a lot cleaner than the southern end. There is a pavilion style cafe/bar right on the beach which does good food and cold beers. It's a family run place and the people that work there are very welcoming and friendly and helpful. We got a ride into town with the owner and he dropped us off at the train station when we left. The beach hut is pretty basic as you would expect, but it had a good quality bed and a nice little sit out porch area. The bathroom, but it was fine for a 4 day stay but expect ants and the occasional spider and gecko. You will get this in any beach hut though. No hot water and electricity and water sometimes intermittent but you would get that anywhere. We paid 1000 IR a night in November which is about £12. Internet cafe about a 1 min walk from the huts.

Spent a week here (very early season). The Huts are basic as you'd expect but very nicely done. I recommend paying a bit extra for a sea view, its well worth the few pounds! The staff are friendly and helpful. Agonda beach is much more tranquil than its local counterparts which suited us perfectly. The beach is stunning, the sea is warm and there's even a lagoon at the top end of the beach which was lovely to swim in. When we arrived they were still setting up so we didn't eat at their restaurant. Tho we found many other places to eat along the beach front, especially White Sands bar/restaurant 3min walk from Paradise Beach Huts... Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Room Tip: I recommend paying a bit extra for a sea view, its well worth the few pounds!
