5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

The location of the hotel is in the Centre of city Most na Soči near by the River Soča, quiet environment, friendly staff, Manager of the hotel is very friendly and knows a lot about the place and the wider area.

The main attraction of the Soca valley is the scenery and outdoor activities, and on that basis most people will not spend a huge amount of time in the hotel; therefore whilst the Lucija does not have extensive facilities, we found it perfectly acceptable for our stay. Everything was clean and everything worked fine, breakfast was simple but adequate and we had no complaints. The hotel gardens have a pleasant frontage onto the river although this area could probably be improved and made into more of an 'attraction' than it currently is by maintaining the grounds and putting in some seating. The hotel location is in the centre of the village of Most na Soci so there are a couple of restaurants, a bar and small supermarket within close walking distance. The town historic walking trail is worth a look if you have a spare half hour. Overall: a simple but perfectly acceptable small hotel good for visiting the Soca valley if you're planning to spend most of your days out and about

We stayed here after our METALDAYS festival in Tolmin and was the beginning of our honeymoon. The hotel was a perfect for rest and relaxation after such a huge week. it was great to position to see the local sights and not far from the Tolmin gorge. Our host William and Rado were amazingly friendly and ever so helpful.

the restaurant next door had the most amazing food and we spent a good part of our time here drinking and eating.

Rado even offered to drive us to our next destination and show us some extra villages and sights of slovenia along the way, "RADO Rob and I had the best day with you through the vinyards and wanted to say thankyou so much and we wish to keep in touch! thank you thank you! I will try to email you shortly.

highly reccomend this place

Just returned for a 3 night stay with friends and was truly disappointed with the rooms and service. In 3 nights there was no change of bed linen and my case towels. Rooms more hostel like than hotel. I should have been charged 80 Euros for my room which is a joke beds and pillow terrible TV didn't work and no mini bar although cabinet sit therein the corner, Manager barely able to greet guests and not aware of how outdated everything is. The gardens could be beautiful because of there location but need a complete over haul. Sun chairs would have been welcome to relax be the river but none available. Breakfast was a complete joke, when we came down at 9am almost everything was gone and told the people before must have eaten everything. No toaster and had to ask for replacement not always provided. Must say coffee machine great though. The biggest plus was the wonderful man who works at the hotel couldn't do enough for us, ice for our drinks table and chairs moved onto the grass. Best thing about the place. We found Hotel Sterk when going for a meal and for the same price could have stayed with a swimming pool and spa and the food was lovely. This Hotel in the right hand could be spectacular, check out Hiso Francos of The new Vila Istra Lake Bled both excellent.

Dear Su333,

Thank you for taking your time to write a review of your Hotel Lucija experience.

From your recommendation of Hiša Franko and Villa Istra we gather you have a good eye for luxury - Vila Istra is a recently renovated old-style 4 star hotel in a tourist packed romantic Bled and Hiša Franko in Kobarid is a famous luxury dinning experience worthy of a Michelin star.

Hotel Lucija promotes active lifestyle in untouched Slovenian nature ... Our guests are outgoing active people - hikers, runners, cyclists and fly-fishing enthusiasts, who spend their day outdoors, exploring the surrounding natural beauty. Hotel is equipped in 70s style furnishing, and in 2013 its run by a staff of only three people.

We do not recall any advertisement where Hotel Lucija would be described as luxury furnished place with a Michelin star chef ?

We, the employees of Hotel Lucija know very well that breaking a sweat every day jogging, cycling or rafting, isn't everyone idea of a vacation. As you have mentioned, our staff did the best they could to accommodate you. We have hiking equipment, walking sticks (for Nordic walking) and bicycle repair gear ... at the moment there is no wine-cellar, no mini-bars, no mud-baths, no casino. Our guest visit us to recharge their batteries, escape the urban rush, enjoy simple things.

We apologize if your expectations were too high reading the comments on TripAdvisor ... they are written by nature loving guests who enjoy our simple hotel.

Hotel Lucija didn't really impress us like some comments suggest. It definitely is an old fashioned hotel without any unnecessary luxury. Our room however, as well as the bathroom, was spacious, which was pleasant. The double windows keep out the noise from the street down below, though keeping the light out is more complicated: our room did not have any curtains. We had to ask for hot water each day, because one of the pumps was out of order. We asked for glasses too, since we didn't have any in the room. They gladly provide you with anything you need, they do their best to make things as comfortable as possible. The owner/mamager also came up with all kind of suggestions, which was really nice. We paid 64 euro's for a double bedded room, so that's not too expensive.

Breakfast was okay, though they run out of bread and other food real quickly. We thought one of the owners/managers was really nice, the other one was less cheerful.

All together this hotel is okay to stay in for a couple of days if your standards are not too high. It is well located to visit and see lots of interesting things from here. It depends on your personal preferences wether you like this hotel or not. We thought it was okay, nothing special but definitely a good place to spend a few days.

We stayed here in September for 2 nights and found it to be a great base to explore the soca valley from. The hotel itself is a little old fashioned but the owners work really hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel and both were good. The hotel is located right beside a turquoise man made lake which was a nice area to walk around and enjoy an ice cream during one sunny afternoon.
There is not much else in the village but it is a good base to visit kobarid, Tolmin and bovec from.

This is a lovely old fashioned hotel in the mountains in Slovenia next to a lovely lake on the Soca River. You can swim in the lake (it's cold though!) or hire kayaks or canoes just a couple of minutes walk away. The hotel looks a bit dated but has a lot of charm and has nice spacious comfortable rooms. The breakfast is fine although not remarkable and the staff (a father & son) are really friendly and cannot do enough to help. The place really does have a lot of charm and is in a lovely quiet location; it is perfectly situated for walking and kayaking & rafting trips on the Soca riva (which I highly recommend!). There are some lovely walks nearby. The 'lake view' rooms do not really overlook the lake very well as there are trees blocking the view..which otherwise would be absolutely stunning as the lake is an amazing turquoise colour. There is also a road in between the hotel & the lake which can be noisy in the mornings as the logging trucks brake to go over the bridge; as there is no aircon you might want the windows open on hot nights and this might disturb light sleepers; if this is the case ask for a room at the back! it is a really quiet sleepy little place most of the time- very relaxing. The staff were really helpful, especially the son of the owner.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter- big rooms only available at the front.
