“Breathtaking, but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

I would say that there are very few places in Central Italy with such a viewpoint, but a restaurant is a place to eat and to relax, so...
I had a full course meal with lombrichelli (so tasty), a wild boar stew and roast potatoes, for €27, which is very reasonable.
As usual for the Italian economy, the service is just average and we would expect just a bit more courtesy.
In summary, nice view, good home-made food, if you have patience.

“great potential but should get rid of the staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

we stayed at Albergo dante for one night and had dinner there as well. At arrival (and afterwards) there is nobody at the reception. Once you are in the room, the room is fine, comfortable beds and spacious enough. Is is sitauted right in the middle of the center of the medieval town

The restaurant has a terrific view but the waiter is really indifferent and is only busy with searching (inappropriate for the atmosphere) music in his computer.
We got away as soon as possible to get our coffee somewhere else.

Breakfast really bad with the same ennoying service from the same waiter.

“terrible service!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

After waiting half an hour for a menu we then waited another half an hour for drinks. There were four of us and we all ordered a pasta course for primi. Our friends pasta arrived but ours did not. We finally got ours another half an hour later. Three of us then got our main course, with the vegetables. The missing dinner then arrived (after much questioning) after everyone else had finished eating! The service was worse than terrible - it was non-existent. We were there celebrating my friends birthday and felt terrible that we had chosen such a poor restaurant. The best thing about it is the view. My advice is eat somewhere else in town as there are some better alternatives. I will never eat here again, which is a shame as the food (if you ever get it) is not bad.

“Real Tuscan regional food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

This is not a typical tourist restaurant, it is mostly busy with local Italian families enjoying great local food and accompanied by great local "house" wines at particularly low prices. The "Pici" Ragu was especially fine, one of the best Pici we enjoyed in all of Tuscany. We had a delightful young man by the name of Urbando Santo as our waiter. The owner is a social character, who regrettably on our second visit had been celebrating a wedding and obviously had too much to drink.

“A very bare-bones operation that delivers less than promised.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

We booked a room for one night with a Groupon coupon, which included dinner. When we arrived, there was nobody at the reception desk. After calling on the reception phone, somebody arrived from the kitchen to check us in. He took some time to find our reservation, then gave us a key and left -- no conversation or explanation. The room was clean but very small and sparsely furnished and with no view.
We went to dinner at the rooftop restaurant, which has a nice view of Lago Bolsena. The place very quickly filled up with smokers. Fortunately, half the restaurant was empty, and the waiter moved us to a table in that empty part, which reduced the amount of cigarette smoke we breathed. The Groupon coupon entitled us to a 4-course dinner. That turned out to be sort of a joke. The "antipasto" was two half-pieces of toasted bread, one with just olive oil and the other with tomatoes. The primo and secondo were okay, but the portions were tiny. Same for the dessert. It was like a 4-course meal for a small child. The waiter was nice, but he was the only one, responsible for all the tables and therefore very hurried.
The next morning, we tried to find where they were serving breakfast (also included in our Groupon coupon), but there was none. By that time, we were so disgusted with the place that we went out to breakfast on the piazza.
Maybe if they complete the renovations and hire adequate staff in the hotel and restaurant, this would be a reasonable place to stay. But not now!!
