This restaurant has several things to recommend it. Firstly, you can choose between the conventional upstairs restaurant and the much more atmospheric downstairs pizzeria (which is just as much a restaurant but with the addition of a pizza oven, more intimate surroundings and access to the garden). Secondly, there is the garden itself which is a delightful place to eat on very warm summer evenings. Thirdly, the best endorsement is that this is a place patronised by the trucking fraternity (the car park is big enough for their vehicles) and we all know how selective they are (think of the Relais Routiers in France).
Over many years I have never had a bad meal at this place, something which you can hardly ever say of most restaurants. The prices are average despite this laudable consistency. The service is friendly and efficient.
