We drove from Havana and arrived to find Iraida chatting on the doorstep who gave us such a nice welcome as if we were old friends. She showed us the 3 rooms they have and let us choose which we preferred. We took the 2 rooms (we were 2 couples) towards the front of the house and offered us some homemade lemonade. Both rooms had a large ensuite bathroom with unusual large tiled area looking like a jacuzzi under the shower!! There was a nice living room outside the room overlooking the square which was quite private as the host family live at the other end of the house past the garden.
It is a lovely well kept house that they are rightly proud of with a pretty patio area. The dinner we had was fantastic - tasty bean soup as starter followed by a delicious ‘mariscos’ plate with lobster, fillet of fish, shrimps and crab plus salad etc. One plate was brought to the table that we thought was to be divided between us, but then another 3 plates of the same dimensions arrived!! It was definitely the best sea food meal we had in Cuba and excellent value at 15 cuc pp.The casa is in a great location on the main square. Remedios is a cute small town- we only stayed for one night as for us it was just a stopping off point on our way to Cayo Santa Maria islands off the coast near there.
We booked this casa along with several others in Cuba with bbinnvinales http://www.bbinnvinales.com/bedandbreakfastrentweb/?search-results,19&sPhrase=remedios
Their service was very efficient, you book without paying but need to reconfirm a couple of days before arriving which we did (with other casa owners help usually!) The organisation even gave us a present of a CD of Cuban music for having booked several casas with them.
