“Great meat in folkloric environment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

Ask any Colombian and this is the place they would recommend you go.
It is perfectly located on your way back from the salt cathedral and it is a sort of folkloric cathedral to beef!
Everything is a complete show in there, actors going around, stuff hanging from everywhere...
Definitely a place kids would enjoy!
The meat is delicious but there is no rest.
If you are traveling with family or a big group or like the carnival sort of thing this is great, great if you're a meat lover but definitely overwhelming otherwise.

Ps- preferable to the others of the chain in Bogota.

“A must go when in Bogota”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

Unique and fun experience. Food is terrific, steak was excellent and the after-dinner party had great energy. I recommend buying a bottle of Aguardiente while dancing - its a super cheap way to drink with friends and new friends while staying on the dance floor. Don't confuse this location with the restaurant in Bogota. The Chia location is where to go.

“you must go there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

we stopped at this restaurant on the way back from the salt cathedral on after reading about it here and recommendation from a friend. it is just fantastic. the atmosphere is festive without being noisy, the service is great, the carne (meat) is delicious, the drinks are well served. and the price is right. they come by your table and play a little Colombian music and give you a sash that says you are an honorary Colombian. we saw the same restaurant in the zona rosa of Bogota on the second floor of a brick building. from the outside it doesn't look to compare to the ORIGINAL andres here in Chia. but we didn't stop in, so it may be comparable. and if you can't get to Chia, it may be just fine.

“great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Definitely worth going there; if you go for lunch, spend one hour walking in the pedestrian way, square and church near the restaurant. I strongly recommend 3 Leches as dessert.

“Can't Miss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant is an institution and can't be missed if you are visiting Bogota. You have to arrange for transportation since this place is nearly 45 minutes away from the city.

Even if you get a sense of his kitschy themed locations such as Andres DC or the food court in the Retiro mall, nothing prepares you for the scale of his flagship location.

While the 62 page menu has other items, including fish and vegetables, this restaurant is a temple to meat and the grilled meat items are not to be missed. We ended up with the Bife Chorizo (a cut of steak that we have only seen in Argentina which is similar to a sirloin). Here, they indicate whether the cow is from steak is from Argentina or Colombia (the cost of Argentinian cuts are nearly double the price of Colombia cuts). The quality of the Colombian cut was amazing the cook on the meat was perfect. We also ended up ordering the mixed platter for one. I should have known better that a mixed platter, while offering a great deal of variety, is never as good as ordering a single cut of meat. Here, unfortunately, is no different. Nearly a third of the items were sausage items (chorizo, morcilla and sausage). They were good, but not as good as my wife's bife chorizo.

Even though it was gluttonous, we also ordered a lomo al tropo to make up for the disappointment of the mixed platter. Our driver recommended this cut of steak and as far as we can tell, this is a beef loin that is wrapped in a salt cloth and cooked on the grill. The meat was perfectly cooked and the salt cloth added a perfect amount of seasoning to the steak. It is an item that should not be missed.

Even though we went here on a Sunday, the place was still very lively. There were large families enjoying dinner as well as other groups of tourists. With the packed dance floor in the middle and the peripatetic live musicians, the atmosphere was festive and energetic.
