“A lovely experience in an unexpected place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

I must say when I think Turkish cuisine I think donee kebab - not here though!
The freshly presided and grilled kebabs are absolutely delicious and you get a generous portion
We had the feast for two and it comes with rice, salad, bread and a variety of chicken and lamb which is marinated to perfection and cooked right in front of us!
Stunning.
Drinks a bit pricey but aren't they everywhere nowadays.

“Popular Restaurant in Coalville”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Having read many positive reviews for Imge and it's Turkish cuisine, we decided to give the place a try.

We booked for Valentine's night and duly arrived just in advance of the time we had booked for.

We were greeted at the door and immediately shown to our table which was situated in the 2nd of the two seating areas as the place was quite full. Note that there is a section of the 1st seating area where the meat is cooked in front of the diners which looks to add to the atmosphere, however, you cannot see this from the second seating area which detracts from the experience somewhat.

As it was Valentines night, each table had been set out with a large single red rose and a sprinkling of red heart shaped glittery table decorations, which was a nice touch.

The menu was a set affair for the night, but we were told this when we booked and there were still a good selection of choices regardless, so this wasn't really an issue.

Once the orders were taken, it did seem to take quite a long time for the starters and main courses to appear but they were tasty enough when they did arrive.

I did think however that the Mussels starter chosen by my wife was a little on the stingy side as there were only 3 mussels served! The Meze starter was quite the opposite though as it was a plate packed with tasty treats.

We both has the chicken/lamb kebab starter (with rice) which was nice.

We also both had pudding but looking at the menus it appeared that it may have been bought in Fayre rather than home made. Don't quote us on this though as we didn't check.

The waiting staff were friendly and polite enough, but Perhaps it was because it was busy as there just didn't seem to be that personal extra touch. No one came over to check whether the starters were ok nor the main courses and the empty plates were on our table for some time before they were cleared. We also had to attract the waiter's attention to get a refill on our drinks rather than being asked.

Also, not the end of the world, but when it came to pay, we wanted to pay by card and the wireless card machine did not reach to the second seating area so we had to go to the bar at the entrance to pay.

All in all, our experience was neither fantastic nor poor. The food was nice but not great and the service was friendly but not attentive.

I think we will probably visit again to try and get a flavour for a "normal" night, to be seated in the main seating area and to get a taste of the standard menu.

Hopefully next time we will be able to update our comments in a much more positive way as people really do seem to like this place and I'm not sure our Valentine's night experience, whilst ok, is possibly not wholly representative of what is on offer here.

“Different but very good !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Having been and enjoyed most european cuisine we(20) decided to go Turkish for last Xmas friends/mates group night out. The owners took a small deposit on booking- no problem. The food was plentiful, tasty, well cooked, well delivered - with nobody waiting or feeling left out. The staff were really friendly- making a big fuss over our large party. Drinks were delivered all night to the tables and everybody had a brilliant evening. It was suprising to find the bill ran out to £55-60 a couple from start to finish- that includes beer and wine. Hats off to the staff/owners for our brilliant night out. Dont keep driving by the place- get on the phone and book up !

“Little gem in Coalville”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Four of us went here looking for somewhere decent to eat in Coalville, which seemed quite a chore on the night! We were recommended the venue by local publican and could not have had a better night. Service was excellent and the food was just perfect. Plentiful supply of meze and bread as starters and great grills.

For a Tuesday night, we were one of maybe five other tables in quite a large restaurant and so it shows it's quite popular for what might otherwise be a quiet night. It was clean, gthe staff were polite and prompt, and overall I was very pleased to have found Imge and more so to have eaten there!
