“Boisterous local osteria with good food and great wines”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

We went for lunch the day of our arrival in La Morra. It was a great way to start the week. Food was really good, service was prompt and the atmosphere was buzzing with energy. Most places in the area are dead at lunch by comparison. The walk-in wine cellar is stocked with all kinds of goodies at fair prices. The stock of white truffles was the most impressive I saw in the area for the week. I should've gotten a shaving here. By the end of the week, I had wished we came back for dinner. Don't miss it.

“Open all day, good value, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Went to More e Macine for lunch Friday. Lots of people, and a bit noisy. The sound level makes a conversation a bit hard, but the service and food makes up for it. Food typical piemontese.

“Good service, very good food, good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

I went there for lunch mid-week. This restaurant is located away from the main streets most tourist walk. More than half of the patrons seemed to be regulars, with only a few obvious tourists like me.

As is typical, the menu was written on a chalk board which my server placed on an empty chair next to my table when she brought me water and a plate of bread and bread sticks.

There were four categories – Antipasti, Primi, Secondi, Dolci – with four choices in each. I selected for my antipasti, a plate with very thinly sliced, very rare veal roast on a pillow of pureed cooked tuna with mayonnaise and capers. I followed that with Tagliolini (very thinly sliced tagliatelle) which is very thin egg pasta common to this part of Italy, with lots of sautéed fresh mushrooms in a light, probably chicken, broth. I ended the meal with a café.

Oh, and a glass of Nebbiolo.

It was a lot of food for €28.

“Great cook and good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

We found this spot out of the blue. Very good choice! Price is fine, for being around Ala while the food was so fresh and tasty. The cook is American but works like an Italian! We will go back for sure!
