My husband and I booked 8 days in a condo at Maalaea Banyans in December 2007 for our 30th wedding anniversary. Never having been to Hawaii before we were very excited. When we arrived at the airport in Maui at 11:30pm it was raining and had been raining for several days. When we unlocked the condo
door we saw one of the oceanfront windows had been left open and the wind had blown the curtain into a nearby table knocking everything off and breaking the lamp, etc. Not so bad, however since the window had been left open for several days the humidity caused the whole condo to be wet and miserable. I had asked if the condo was airconditioned, which it is, but did not ask if it was central air, which it is not. There is a very small window unit at the front of the condo which does not do a very good job of cooling off the condo. The bedroom is at the back and does not cool off very well, which explains all of the fans in the bedroom. The bed was wet from the humidity as was the whole condo. We turned on the air conditioner immediately and waited for 4 hours to try and dry out the unit, but to no avail. There was no way we could go to sleep in a damp humid bed. We located another room at a resort and stayed there the rest of our trip. We tried to get in touch with Gil Van Valkenburg ,our Maui Connection,(HA) to discuss some possible reimbursement. He has never returned our phone calls. So just to let you folks know, he has a one way connection--book the condo, send the money and buzz off. If you have a legitimate
complaint be prepared to be ignored.
