Pacific Whale Foundation also has a location in Lahaina and has trips that leave from there. We took the Lana’i snorkel trip a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it. We went out into the bay, and got a quick sighting of a whale tail just before it dove below the surface (we were there at the end of whale watching season). We saw a great big group of spinner dolphins. The snorkeling spot was pretty great too. The food was pretty good: fresh fruit with banana bread for breakfast, and grilled chicken and pasta salad for lunch. Most of the staff was really friendly and helpful. One staff member seemed a little stern with people (e.g., she gave me a hard stare when I asked for water as we were coming in, and cautioned that I would have to drink if fast because no open containers were allowed as they were close to shore). It was windy during our week in Hawaii, and the afternoons were worse. This meant that our trip back to Maui was pretty rough seas, but we managed. All in all, a pretty professional outing. I’d use them again for other trips in the future.
