“Unique and beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

From yerevan you should drive about 3-4 hours to reach Tatev so you should start your trip not later than 9 am if you want to return before night.
The wing of Tatev which right now is the longest cable car in the world is one of the 2 main attractions of Tatev. You have a very excellent view of the surroundings while you are in the cabin and it will lead you to the other attraction of Tatev which is the Tatev monastery. It is an ancient monastery with different parts, such as bakery, kitchen, stable and so many other parts.
Overall,if you have enough time I definitely suggest it to you.

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

If in Armenia visit Wings of Tatev - world's longest aerial tramway. The length of the aerial line broke the world record, and its construction was also completed in a record-breaking timeframe of ten months. The project was designed and implemented by Doppelmayr/Garaventa, an Austrian-Swiss company that is a world leader in aerial tramway design. A cable car ride to the Monastery takes just 12 minutes. By land it would take 40 minutes along the steep, winding road through the Vorotan River Gorge. Each cabin holds 25 passengers and a tram driver, and each hour 200 passengers ride this unique tramway. Three massive supports divide the ropeway into four sections, with the longest at 2.7 kilometers. From this section, passengers can enjoy a magnificent view as they approach the Monastery.

“Tatev Monestary complex”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Beautiful monastery on the edge of a gorge with beautiful views. The day we went there was incense burning in the church and the light falling through the windows made stunning beams in teh smoke.

There are 2 nice monasteries on the way as well - Khor Virap, just a "stone's throw" from Mt. Ararat; and Noravank, in a side canyon just past Areni. There is a nice cave restaurant in the side canyon on the way to Noravank (on the right when driving up to Noravank). Tasty khoravats (grilled meat on a stick).
