“Very nice location, below average build quality of rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

This hotel is located directly next to the lake with a breathtaking view. It consists of several parts and I can only comment on the room quality of the new part. The room was in rather bad shape by Swiss standards, with strokes on the walls, bad build quality (cracks etc), limestone in the shower. Stuff I don't want to see considering the price tag. Service at the reception somewhat compensates for that, as it was great. Food was ok, but nothing special.

Room Tip: I wouldn't go for the new part, but I actually don't know how good that is.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013 via mobile

I stayed 1 night on a business event in the new SPA building. My room was very spacious with high ceiling, one window and another window and balcony. The bed was very comfy and I just loved the bathroum interior design which ist very stylish - a very modern minimalistic style. The room has all amenities you would expect: expresso machine, wireless telephone, hifi stereo, smart flat TV, LAN cables, WiFi, safe, refrigerator.....and more.
The staff at the hotel and in the restaurant is very friendly and diligent.
I knew the classic hotel and retaurant Seerose for quite some time, but the new SPA Resort was new to me. I think the enlargement of the hotel - although it s a juxtaposition of modern and classic styles - is quite successfull. Would come again any time.

The lake is quiet and pretty. Nice and relaxing except for the consruction which should end soon (suggest you check before you book). The resort is a combination of Swiss Chalet (one building) and LA hotel on the the strip (second building). I have stayed in the original building which was wonderful, overlooks the lake and is very peaceful. The newer building at first glance looks cool but in the end is a well decorated Hotel 6 or Red Roof. Still nice but not as great as the original resort building. Still worth the time to go as the service was friendly.

The hotel is very well appointed standing beside the lake and offering elegantly designed rooms and facilities. The rooms are stylishly designed, clean and comfortable, and enjoy stunning lake views, and the general look and fell of the interior is relaxing and comfortable. The main downside is the quality of the food and restaurant service. With the exception of breakfast, I found the food in all of the restaurants mediocre at best, and in some cases very poor. Despite the restaurants being no more than 1/3 to 1/2 full each time we visited, the service was painfully slow and staff had to be called over several times. Also beware of construction noise - a concrete behemoth extension to the hotel is being built and I was astonished to hear the noisy construction starts at 7am and continues all day - fine if you want a wake-up call, but I feel that starting construction at this time is inconsiderate and suggests that guests comfort may not be the top priority.

Room Tip: Request a room in the old block which is further away from the construction noise.

Dear "seanyg"

Thank you for your detailed valuation regarding your stay with us. It is a pleasure to read that you did like our stylish rooms and that you felt comfortable in our hotel.

As we are taking your feedback seriously, we will also discuss your feedback about food and restaurant service within our team. Would you mind writing us some details about your dinner experience? It is our main target to improve continously.

As you mentioned, our third builiding Seerose Cocon will be opening in May 2013. We would like to appologise for any inconveniences caused due to the construction noise. Please contact us via Email (marketing at seerose.ch) and send us your coordinates. We will be happy to send you a little surprise in accordance to your early wake-up call.

From May 2013 onwards, you will be able to enjoy over 1000m2 of our new Cocon Thai Spa, a new gourmet restaurant, 30 Junior Suites and 2 Wellness Suites.

We would be delighted to welcome you again and wish you a sunny summer time.

I was at the Seerose for a two-day seminar. The location is nice and quite, the staff is helpful, and the breakfast was very good.

The place is as clean as you wold expect for a five-star hotel. You may or may not like the stile of the interior. They tried hard to interface modern with classic, not always successfully, though.

My room (113) was a sheer let-down. Finding the light switches and operating the water tap was a bit of an IQ test. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and I woke up early unable to fall asleep again. The desk was unpractical. Again it was hard to find the power plug, and the desk-light (also used as bedside light) works best if you are left-handed. Again, the (modern) stile of the room is debatable. I didn't like the (fake) tropical-looking wood.

Unfortunately our dinner was at the Thai Restaurant, which is only slightly better than average. Me and my colleagues felt that the rice was dry and hard (al dente, if we were talking pasta). The wine served (Amarone) with the food was a mismatch (I don't know whose idea it was, though). The background Thai music was a nuisance,

Hotel Seerose pretends to be an "extraordinary desing hotel", a claim which is not fully sustantiated. Not even the five stars are fully appropriate. I will not be here again unless I have to.

Dear Hans L,

We would like to thank you for your detailed feedback regarding your stay with us. We feel quite honoured that you compare our hotel with five stars hotels! Our staff will be happy about your positive statements!

As you recognised and we agree with you, design is indeed purely a matter of taste. Therefore, we are glad to offer different styles in our two hotel buildings: the 17 rooms of our Hotel Seerose Classic are designed in the style of “natural chic”. Inspired by nature: sand, driftwood, stone, weathered wood and natural linen in perfect harmony. The incredibly subtle nuances of colours and materials found only in nature have the effect of making nearby Lake Hallwil appear even more blue. "Natural chic" - a style that avoids showiness in favour of natural, complementary materials. It helps you to relax and creates a harmonious atmosphere of wellbeing, allowing guests to get away from the everyday look-a-like while still enjoying modern creature comforts.

On the other hand, the Hotel Seerose Elements is designed after the four elements fire, water, earth and air. Your room was on the first floor, designed in the sign of water, beautifully reflecting blue shades. Set against the lightness of the bamboo floor, the flowing grain in the specially designed and real zebrano wood furniture subtly reinforces the theme of water, its warm tones providing the necessary counterpoint to the cooler blue and green tones of the walls and soft furnishings.
The bathrooms are equipped with tabs in the “quadro – design” by the famous italian company Gessi. They convince in style, but, as we agree with you, they are not very easy to handle. The two Artemide-lights can be used on both desk or bed sides and secure an ideal working- or reading light. Due to our philosophy and values, we are exclusively working with real designers and their furniture. However, we must admit that such design might not always be practicable to use.
In our new building, the Seerose Cocon (opening in May 2013), we will offer both rather soft and hard mattresses to fulfil all our customers needs and wants for a relaxing and dreamlike sleep.

We would be delighted to welcome you again in our 4 star design & lifestyle Hotel Seerose.

Best regards,

Felix Suhner and your Seerose Family

I stayed in Seerose 5 days to attend a seminar, real amazing location on lake (Hallwilersee), very cheerful staff, room space was comfortable and food was fine.
If you need a break for relaxation, for sure I recommend this small elegant hotel.

Room Tip: Choose room with lake view... really nice

Dear "Hossamaze"

Thank you so much for your positive feedback on Tripadvisor! The lake of Hallwil is a romantic seeting for short breaks also in winter time. Enjoy some time for yourself, a walk along the lake and culinary delights in one of our two restaurants: Restaurant Seerose with swiss-french cuisine or Restaurant Samui-Thai with royal-thai cuisine.

We look forward to welcoming you again in one of our hotels for one of your next breaks - just have a look at Sonne Balance Hotel or Hotel Bad Bubendorf.

Best regards,

Your Seerose Family

Conference hotel located snuggled in the hills with a beautiful lake to feast ones eyes on.

Staff: Friendly. couteous and helpful at all times

Rooms: Each floor has an "element" theme (Sun, Water etc) and is styled accordingly. Modern, quirky design with esoteric undertones - An oasis of comfort. Expresso machine, internet access...they really thought of everything....however, the only negative point - the toilet is located in the room and is seperated by a transparent curtain......if your sharing with someone, you will really get to hear and smell everything in dolby digital!!

Moving along swiftly, the hotel has two restaurants - one Thai (take time with you - food is excellent but it takes an eternity). The second restaurant, located in the old building by the lake, serves a wonderful and succulent variety of local produce - the fish is excellent. Breakfast in the morning is how a hotel breakfast should be. Broad and varied assortment of chesses, meats, breads...the works. Sets up up perfectly for the day.
Fazit: Highly recomendable. I've been there 4 times and will return
