“Yet Another Stunning Palace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

We were in St. P for three days and by the time we had seen Hermitage, Peterhof, and Catherine Palace, we were pretty well overwhelmed by the gold leaf etc. This is another gorgeous palace and well worth the visit. The amber room is especially remarkable. Catherine Palace is outside of St. P and requires transportation of some kind. Despite my remarks, I'm glad we didn't miss this. By the way, our tour guide says there are better and less expensive places to buy amber if you're interested. Also, amber used to be available in pieces washed up on the beach. No more...now they have to send divers down to dig into the sand to find it. So new amber is more expense. Luckily for me, brown and gold are not my colors.

The park was lovely and well kept, but nothing really exciting or different than you would see anywhere else.

“little original construction”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Due to destruction during the world wars, little original work is present. Most things are reproductions. It is still very interesting and worth a visit, but make sure you have an informative guide so that you know what you are actually looking at.

“fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

We visited it on a beautiful summer. The garden was outstanding, but what we liked the most was the visit to the Amber room and the inside of the palace

“Unforgetable! It is worth the visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Well the highlite is the amber room which is a work of skill and beauty, there are several other galleries and rooms, each with intricate decoration, and different paintings, it is incredible of the human creativity and talent together and of course huge money resources can produce. The Palace is fantastic!
