I have travelled a lot and visited many palaces in Europe and Asia. This one truly is one of the most beautiful palaces in the world. Every room is a masterpiece, made from different precious stones. My favorite is the emerald room, and, of course, the amber room. The amber room is stunning! The combination of all shades of amber, gold, mirrors and light create an effect of a fire. No wonder the entire room was stolen during the WWII. It took many years and tons of money to restore the room, but it was worth it! The outside of the palace is gorgeous too with its park, pond and beautiful blue church with golden domes. Anyone who visits St Petersburg MUST see this place! You can buy a tour on Nevsky Ave (more expensive), or go on your own by taking a commuter train from Baltiysky Station (Балтийский вокзал, get off in Pushkin - less money, but more hassle if you don't speak Russian).
