We stayed two nights at the NH Marquette Heemskerk and the visit was great. Good service at the reception, excellent breakfast (with a huge variety of choices), quiet and calm. You do need a car though as it is not easy to get around without one but for those wanting a beautiful bucolic setting this would be the place. I would recommend it for couples with children as well as there is alot of grounds for the wee ones to run around in.

Room Tip: I recommeng the rooms on the bottom floor as they have a small terrace leading to an enclosed garden...

Having purchased Groupon vouchers previously for other hotels, I had expected to be going to a "wanna be" hotel trying to boost business out of season and then treat the staff like something you'd scrape off your shoe... Well it's not, OK, the hotel building is a little dated and the rooms do seem to have some dampness in the air (chambre staff know this and the rooms are well aired to try and resolve the issue)

The room itself was large, with all neccessities (again a little dated with the CRT TV)... But everything worked fine.

The deal we purchased included diner at the "Castle" part of the hotel. It's a little walk away, but once you get there it's enchanting. Food is very good (limited choice on the weekly menu), but what was server up was delightful

Breakfast the following morning was a treat as well. All seemed very fresh and the table staff were continually brining out fresh stuff (scrambled eggs, bacon, juices, pastries) as they noticed the stocks go down... Even at 11:30AM

Lastly worth mentioning is the staff. Every single member of staff tried their best to ensure customer satisfaction and friendly with it.

For those that have complained about the inaccessibility of the hotel without a car... May I suggest a little pre planning when going on holiday to check the place meets your requirements

This hotel is a guaranteed a return visit

NH Marquette was a cheap place for us to stay whilst visiting Amsterdam. The transport links are very bad with only two buses to the train station per hour and the buses stop running early;as a result we would have to leave the city in the early evening. The journey would take about 1hr 45 after waiting for trains and buses. The buses are expensive (2.90 euros each way), the trains cost 10.50 euros return.
The hotel is situated in the woods, there is no security for the hotel and there is no lights leading to the hotel; it was very scary to walk through the pitch black woods at night and in the early morning.
There was only one member of staff whom we found helpful, the rest were arrogant and rude. The hotel staff would think nothing of interrupting your questions and giving short patronising answers. I asked to book a taxi (to prevent walking through the woods at night) the answer: 'the taxi will not come', when asked if they could provide information about the what to do in the surrounding area, or the transport times the answer was 'no'. Be careful if you book through 'late rooms' as breakfast is not included and costs 15 euros.
The room was nice although it was not cleaned and the beds were uncomfortable.
Not good for female travellers.

We needed a hotel for just one night since we had a party nearby.
We only styed in the hotel for the night and had a pleasant stay.
Rooms are spacious and clean. But unfortunately a little noisy

We booked breakfast seperate and this was very good.

We came upon the NH Marquette quite by chance and were pleasantly surprized at what a nice place it was! Set in it's own grounds it is accessed by a lane that also leads to a chateau with plenty of wildlife to be seen.
This was not a modern trendy hotel, more a very genteel place with a lot of old world charm.
There was hot fesh coffee in the lobby, friendly staff and bicycle hire all readily available.
The room was plenty large enough with comfortable furnishing and the only real complaint was the televison was clumpy, out dated and only recived two chanels and the staircase carpet could do with a bit of a clean. Over all a very good value for money place to stay.
This hotel was in very easy cycling distance of the local town which had a nice selection of shops and friendly locals.
Definately a hotel we would stay at again.

Dont even dream to stay in this hotel if you are not with a car. the entrance to the hotel premises is dark without any olight for hundreds of meters and it is very scary because you can be run over by a passing car, be attacked by an animal or can fall till you arrive to the first light in the path. you dont see the Nh flag in the dardkness and not the rose ballon (ridiculous) on the sign. They balme on the village authorities but they endanger their guests and the liability in on them! If they cant light their premises which is in a forest they should not build the hotel! Moreover, they charge city tax although it is 40 km out of the city of Amsterdam.which is outragious, It is very expensive to eat there breakfast and nobody was in their dinning room. It is very expensive to go from there to amsterdam It cost 2.90 euro to travel to next village from there you pay 5.50 euro for each person till the central station in AMSTERDAM. for a couple it is 27 euro a day adding the hotel cost you can book with this sum of money a room in central amsterdam. the nh customers quality contrul are rude and didnt offer any kind of compensation to my complaints.
